The Almighty Struggle is A small rustic shingle style cottage, with an oversized deck facing the Union River inlet and the mountains of Acadia National Park in downeast Maine.
Nestled in a clearing on 14 acres of natural woods you can see deer, turkey, porcupine, and maybe even a moose. The 400’ of beach has ledges hosting mussels, crabs, sea urchins, and starfish.
You will enjoy watching the seals, kayaking, swimming, hiking, fishing, and watching the local lobstermen gather their traps.
The cottage is small, clean , and well appointed for couples and small families that want a private outdoor vacation experience.
We are well situated for day trips to Acadia National Park and exploring the villages of the Blue Hill Peninsula.

Pets are considered, Non-smoking Sunday-to-Sunday rental. 2 bedrooms with full-sized beds, and a sleeping loft with 2-twin sized beds. There is 1 bath with a shower. The kitchen is fully outfitted with refrigerator, oven, pots, pans, dishes utensils, coffee maker, blender, lobster- pot, mixer, microwave, toaster, spices, and icemaker. We also have a small TV, DVD, stereo, Woodstove, Grill, Walkway to beach, Deck Chairs. Extras include Binoculars, Picnic basket, books, games, and craft project items.

Activities available nearby include sailing, golf, boat trips, island hopping tours, antiquing, whale watching, fresh water and salt-water fishing.

Pick blueberries from the fields, watch the stars right from the deck, swim off the ledges, hike the beach in front of the cottage, or visit the potteries, art galleries and studios of nationally recognized artists living and working in the villages of downeast.
vacation rental rates
Rentals are from Sunday to Sunday. $1,000 per week or $3500 a month, plus a $200 deposit or a $300 deposit with an approved pet. Deposits are refunded when the home is vacated in orginal condition.
A $100 cleaning fee and is expected with the deposit. Rentals for the summer or for longer than 1 month please call. We do hold bookings for up to a year in advance.
