This is a modern, open-floorplan, 6 BR/4BA lodge built for large groups like corporate retreats & family reunions. In addition to the BRs, we have a loft that sleeps 6 and a den than sleeps 2. Extra large dining room and adjacent kitchen bar and breakfast area allows for seating of the entire party as one group.

See-thru gas fireplace separates the living and dining rooms.

One BR is on main level with no stairs necessary for our limited mobility guests.

Our family uses this place for our own reunions, so we have screened porch, outside deck, hammock, fire pit, clubhouse for kids, swings, darts, horsehoes, lots of games, outside play areas in the woods, hiking down to the nearby river, charcoal grill, etc.

Modern conveniences include Washer and Dryer, Wifi, Satellite TV, etc.

activities and attractions in Cashiers Smoky Mountains

Located 1/2 way between the resort towns of Cashiers and Highlands, we are a 15 minute drive from each downtown - which means excellent dining, shopping, golf courses, hiking trails and waterfalls are minutes away.

Setting is deep in the woods at the end of a gravel road so there are no cars going by - very safe for the children to play outdoors. A path from the house leads to the Chattooga River & Trail, which is spectacularly beautiful and has swimming holes, great fishing and picnic spots, etc.

We planned this trip to celebrate my daughters fourth birthday. I grew up going to Highlands, and wanted to share the experience with her! She fell in love! The MelbyMonte Lodge did not disappoint in any way. Very comfortable, and so much already on hand. We loved every minute spent there. The pictures of the view don't even do it justice, it was amazing! I also loved the location. It was such a nice winding drive to and from town. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We'll be back!!

Great Place to Stay - Well maintained

We had a Friends Weekend over Labor Day 2012. There were 4 couples and 6 children...plenty of room, great layout, well stockED with everything you could need. We hope to be back this summer as well. Thanks MelbyMonte Lodge for a marvelous weekend!

We do things differently here: vacating renters are encouraged to leave any unopened food or condiments, spices, baking products, etc., and arriving renters are welcome to use whatever they like - no need to replenish, etc. When people arrive, they usually find food in the refrigerator, freezer and pantry. Our spice rack is FULL of spices and cooking oil, etc.

Since I am not a good photographer, renters are almost always happily surprised that the place is even nicer than they imagined.

Even Better than Expected!

Your home was even more beautiful and spacious than we imagined - the photos do not do it justice! It was the perfect location for our large family (16 total) to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary! Everyone was able to do as much or as little exploring as they wanted. Some hiked, went rafting, played at sliding rock, went gem mining, saw waterfalls, and shopped both Highlands and Cashiers, while some just enjoyed the peace and quiet of the house and property. EVERYONE had a great time! And your detailed information on places to go, things to do, and sights to see was priceless - it added so much to our trip to have such a handy guide available without having to do much (if any) of our own research! We are already planning what we'll do and see during our next stay at MelbyMonte!
