quick facts

vacation rental description

Angler's Rest is roomy yet cozy, and comfortably close to downtown
Livingston. In the evenings we sat on the back porch and watched a
great horned owl hunt along the water, with a glorious view of the
mountains in the distance. We had a great time during our visit!
- C.H., Florida

This four bedroom home is located on the eastern edge of Livingston
with fabulous views of the rugged Absaroka Mountains to the south, and
the Crazy Mountain range to the east. The home has a rustic, western
style with use of recycled barn wood and metal in the design. A small
creek, actually the North fork of the Yellowstone River, flows right
past the deck in the back yard. The creek has beavers, ducks, geese
and otter to entertain those who just want to relax on the back deck.
Across the creek is a large city park called Mayor's Landing. For
those willing to brave a creek crossing, the main Yellowstone River is
within sight and just a two minute walk from the back door. A large
beaver dam helps to cross the creek with dry feet!

The home is located on the eastern edge of town in Livingston. From
the back deck, there are unobstructed views across the creek, a huge
city park, and the Yellowstone River. It feels very private, yet just
three blocks away is a great little coffee shop, and the main part of
town with shopping and restaurants is 10 to 15 blocks from the house.
It is about a 45 minute drive to Yellowstone National Park, and the
same to Bozeman's Gallatin Field airport.

For fishermen or folks that just want to explore, the amazing Boulder
and Stillwater River valleys are located to the east within an hour or
so. Head west, and the Gallatin, Madison and Missouri River Valleys
beckon.

There are four bedrooms in the home and four full bathrooms. On the
main level of the home is a master bedroom with king size bed and an
attached private bath with stall shower. The second bedroom is set up
with a twin over double bunk bed. There is a full bath with tub and
shower out in the hallway. Upstairs is a second master bedroom with
king size bed and attached bath with a double shower. This king size
bed may also be separated into two extra long twin beds for more
flexible sleeping arrangements. The second upstairs bedroom has a
queen size bed and a day bed, and a full bathroom with tub and shower
out in the hall. Anglers Rest can accommodate up to ten guests (in
seven separate beds).

The home has a complete kitchen with a gas range and oven, dishwasher,
microwave, coffee maker and grinder, blender -- all the essentials!
You will have all the cookware and serving ware you need for your
crew. A nice gas grill is out on the deck for barbecues. The dining
area is just off the kitchen, with an oak table that seats six to
eight comfortably. There are a couple of stools at the kitchen island
for overflow. The wrap around deck is set up with plenty of seating
for those outdoor meals, as well as a hammock for an afternoon nap.

The cozy living room is centered around the fireplace (gas-fired),
which makes a great place for relaxing after a day of hiking, fishing
or exploring. The living area is set up with a flat screen television
with satellite service and DVD/VCR player, and a stereo system with CD
player. The sound system is set up for you to play your ipod or mp3
player as well. For a quieter evening, head out to the hot tub out
back, listen to the creek and do some star-gazing!

From the back door, those who love to fish can try to catch a trout
before breakfast, or kids can swim and play in the creek. Anglers Rest
is also a bird watcher's paradise, with eagle, osprey, kingfishers and
more in abundance. In addition to the amazing access to the
Yellowstone River, from this great location you can walk to downtown,
and it is just a short drive to hiking, biking, rafting, and horseback
riding in the summer months, and skiing and snowmobiling in the winter
months. The town of Livingston has a great selection of fine and
casual dining, plus some nice art galleries to browse. Yellowstone
National Park is just an hour drive away. There's so much to do!

A huge deck wraps around the home providing a nice front porch entry,
a covered side deck with hammocks and seating, and a large back deck
hanging over the creek. You can practically fish from the deck! There
is a gas grill for barbecuing those outdoor meals. A large hot tub,
and if you're lucky, some northern lights complete the picture!

What a great house!

Review submitted: February 11, 2011   Date of arrival: October 2, 2010

Warm and cozy house, beautiful scenery. Yellowstone was amazing. Rubber Ducky rafting was so much fun. Lots of places to eat - Rib and Chop House was great. So much to say about this beautiful place... not enough room on this page.
