traveler reviews for this norfolk house rental

Most relaxing vacation ever!

Keri S (Stockton, IL, USA)
Review submitted: March 1, 2012   Date of arrival: August 9, 2011

We were the second family to rent this house and the owners made it very easy to rent from. The house was spotless and ready to stay in. With an extended family ranging from 1-73 years old, there was plenty of room for everyone. The pool was a family favorite as was sitting on the upper deck by the dock in the evening enjoying a glass of wine. We enjoyed fishing off the dock and was surprised to catch a blue crab! Viewing all the birds on the water was amazing especially the nesting pair of osprey. The close proximity to the Navy base and Virginia Beach is a definate plus. When starting to plan for a trip back down to Norfolk, this was the first on our list to stay at. Definately would recommend this house for families of all ages.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Relaxation at its Best

The Chesapeake Dream lived up to that name and then some. My family and I typically rent homes in the Outer Banks each summer- Southern Shores, Duck and Corolla. This summer I decided to pursue other options and the Hampton Roads/ Tidewater area seemed appealing.

The home is newly renovated, spacious and in terrific condition. The home sits directly on a bay and we spent the late night hours sipping wine under the stars on the rooftop deck over the boathouse. The birds, fish and wildlife complimented the gentle breeze well.

The pool had the perfect chlorine balance and the children spent hours upon hours swimming and enjoying the slide and diving board. The patio area and balcony off the master bedroom allowed a great view of the children in the pool from the comfortable rocking chairs.

The home is located 20 minutes from downtown Virginia Beach, 10 minutes from the Botanical Gardens, a bowling alley and the Norfolk Zoo. Movie theaters and groceries stores are also minutes away. The neighborhood is very quiet and secluded. The owners were kind enough to provide linens and leave many of the convenience items such as hand soap, paper towels and laundry detergent.

I will say that there are not very many dine in restaurants in the area, but we found several options enroute to Virginia Beach on the coastal highway.

I am very pleased with this choice and I recommend it highly to those looking for a cheaper alternative without the long drive.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, sight seeing
