Otter Lodge Cottage is a large 4 bedroom 2 full bath home tucked
down
a quiet street in the The Village of Otter Creek just 3.5 miles
south
of Bar Harbor.T the end of the Lane you can hop on the FREE Island
Explorer, it runs every 30 min.
Located in the Heart of Acadia National Park
- The Village of Otter Creek is completely surrounded by
Acadia National Park Border and our Village Trail
where a beautiful 10 minute walk takes you to Otter Cove, the Ocean
and the Ocean Trail - which continues onto Otter Cliffs, The Gorham
Mountain Trail Head, Thunder Hole, and Sand Beach.
A 10 minute walk from Otter Lodge in the other direction
will deliver you to the Cadillac Mountain South Ridge Trail Head.
The Free Island Explorer Bus stops at the end of the lane providing
hourly service for you (and your bikes) into Bar Harbor and onto all
other major hiking & biking trails.
This lovely home is loaded with Downeast charm inside & out....
a whimsical garden display featuring bird feeders, vintage lobster
traps and a collection of nautical treasures welcomes you!
Wildflowers and perenials grace the flower beds around the property.
Enjoy an evening cook-out on the grill
and top it off with s'moors and stargazing
around the rustic stone fire pit!
Inside you will find Otter Lodge just as charming.
The Living Room features a large sectional sofa, handbraided area
rug, light & airy valances draped over wood branches, reproduction
Grandma Moses prints, antique travel trunks and a library of good
old
books, games and puzzles stocked on the shelves.
Assorted treasures collected from around the island are featured
thruout the cottage.

Each is thoughtfully appointed and feature high treadcount sheets,
plenty of pillows, blankets etc.

2 Full Bathrooms:
Both are stocked with thick & thirsty cotton face, hand & bath
towels.We use downey in our linens,if you have alergys please let us
know before check-in so
we may do them fragrant free.

Is fully equipped with all your cookwear needs and dinner service

Bookshelves in the living room are stocked with some great old

Bar Harbor Brewery (the first micro-brewery on the island) is open
for tours & tasting!
Nearby are entrances to some of the best hiking trails in the Park,as well as ahuge variety of outdoor activities including canoeing,kayaking, rock climbing,sailing and biking.

hop aboard the Free Island Explorer Bus at the end of the lane which
provides hourly service to all other major hiking trails.
Biking:
From the cottage you can saddle up & right head out
where a Southern Route down Otter Creek Drive allows you to connect
with The Park Loop Road then peddle on to Wildwood Stables and a
network of carriage roads ideal for biking, hiking and horseback
riding.
The Free Island Explorer Bus stops at the end of the lane & provides
hourly transportation for you and Your Bikes into Bar Harbor and
onto
the carriage trails .... we like to bike out & take the bus back!
(please feel free to stow your bikes out of the weather in the
cottages potting shed located at the rear of the property)

Kayaking:
Our guest can launch into Otter Cove 1 street over.
Seal Harbor is 4 miles away with plenty of parking.
Bar Harbor 3 miles - put in at Bar Island (parking can be a problem)
Kayaks can be rented in Bar Harbor,Southwest Harbor, Long Pond.
Rock Climbing:
aprox 10 minute drive to Otter Cliffs parking lot.
If you are not an highly experienced climber
- we suggest you not attempt Otter Cliffs without a guide!
We climb with Jeff at Atlantic Climbing School his guides are first
rate!
- Even if you don't climb we suggest you take a hike out to the
cliffs to watch!
Horseback Riding:
Boarding is available at Wildwood Stables.
Wildwood also offers carriage rides up Day Mountian.
Boat Cruises:
In nearby Northeast Harbor the park service offers tours of Somes
Sound and Cranberry Isle.
