Near LEGOLAND!  We are a 10 minute drive to Legoland.  This charming 1940’s beach cottage in the middle of Carlsbad Village has been completely remodeled.  The interior is open and airy with new beach colors and bright white beamed and vaulted ceilings in every room. Skylights and big windows bring in the sun and the cool breezes. At night the cottage becomes cozier and even romantic with subtle upper lighting controlled by dimmers. Hardwood floors, cushy area rugs, crown molding and inspired decor will remind you of your favorite beach home found on the pages of “Costal Living” magazine.

Park your car when you arrive because you won’t need to drive again till it is time to leave for home.  Five blocks to the ocean with great restaurants, shops and even a grocery store within a 2 – 10 minute walk from your front door.  The Coaster train is 2 blocks away and can take you to Downtown San Diego in 50 minutes. Carlsbad has been described as the best small town on the beach.

Sleeping is easy with the breeze from the ocean and the comfortable new king size pedestal bed in the master bedroom. The second bedroom has a unique built -in bunk bed with a trundle underneath so that the room sleeps three.  And there is a queen-size futon in the living room.  The bathroom has been completely modernized with stone tiles, vessel sink and other new fixtures.  New appliances and a fully equipped kitchen complete with placemats, hand painted dishes, glassware, pots & pans, etc. make vacation meals a celebration.  The living room is relaxing for the whole family with couch, chairs, soft area rug, dining table, and eating bar that opens up to the kitchen.   Vaulted open ceilings in every room with ceiling fans throughout plus thermostatically controlled exchange fans at each end keep the cottage comfortable.  Complete with indoor washer/dryer and will shortly have a kids playhouse in the side yard.

The “beach cottage” décor is bright and airy inside and outside there is gas barbeque in the yard for grilling on a beautiful balmy evening.  A patio set and umbrella complete the picture.  The large front porch with four Adirondack chairs invites you to relax and watch the world pass by, just like in the 40’s.  Added to the “no worries” atmosphere is the off-street parking for multiple vehicles.  You can watch cable TV on the flat screen TV’s in the Living Room and Master Bedroom.  The living room has a Blu-Ray player with Block Buster and Red Box within walking distance.  Complimentary Wifi is included throughout the house, porch and patio areas.

This home is located in a quiet neighborhood.  If you are looking for a party location, this is not the place.  No pets and no smoking on the property.  The house will be very clean when you arrive.  We take pride in our cottage.  Thanks.

Summer rentals are by the week only.

The cottage has everything you will need for a completely relaxing vacation.  There are hardwood and tile floors with area rugs and ceiling fans throughout.  A quiet front porch is shaded by giant trees. All bedding and towels as well as soap, shampoo and a hair dryer are provided.  The complete kitchen has everything you will need: stainless steel sink, disposal, dishwasher, microwave, gas stovetop w/oven and refrigerator.  A coffee maker, toaster, food processor and blender are included. There is a dining area and eating bar in the living room, an ice cream seating set in the kitchen and a patio table outside near the gas barbeque.  There is a tub/shower combination in the bathroom.  You can dim the lights in each room so that you can create the mood you desire.  Then set the cable TV to a romantic station or put your favorite CD in the Blu-Ray player and sit back and enjoy.  High speed Wifi Internet is ready when you need it.  If you need to do some laundry we have a washer/dryer in the cottage.  We are in the process of constructing a two story playhouse in the side yard for kids.  It will be complete with slide and climbing wall and should be completed by the end of May.

You are close to everything.  Only 5 blocks to the beach.  Just a 2 – 10 minute walk to many restaurants with outdoor dining, live music, coffee shops, pubs, and shopping.  Suring in Carlsbad and all of San Diego can be very good for experts and there are some great spots here in Carlsbad that are easy and safe for learning.  Great beaches for boogie boards, skim boards, just walking with your feet in the surf or kicking back with a book and a Starbucks (only a few blocks away).   You can park in your driveway and walk to everything.  And you are only minutes from your cottage if you decide to go back for a nap in the middle of the day.  Golf is close by, as are wildlife walks and horseback riding.  Carlsbad Beach has been voted one of the top 5 family beaches in the U.S.

Legoland -10 minutes, Sea World - 30 minutes, the world famous San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park are 40 minutes, San Diego Harbor - 40 minutes, San Diego airport - 40 minutes, Petco Park Baseball Field – 40 minutes, Old Town San Diego - 35 minutes.  Deep-Sea fishing and boat rentals are just a few miles away at the Oceanside Harbor.  The Carlsbad Flower Fields are just 5 minutes away and the discount mall is right next to the Flower Fields.  Del Mar Horse Races are 15 minutes away and in the summer the Del Mar County Fair takes place.  Downtown San Diego has Little Italy for great dining and shopping as well as Horton Plaza for tons of shops and restaurants.  Sea Port Village is just 45 minutes away with quaint shops, many restaurants, harbors to wander around and is right on the bay with a great view of Coronado Island.

Kayaking, surfing, swimming, biking, antiquing, museums, live theatre, health/beauty spa, and fishing are all just steps away.  5 minutes to boating, jet skiing and sailing facilities.  5 minutes to movie theatres and the mall.

Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm and Anaheim Stadium are just a short drive to the North.

Monthly Rates – 2013 (no monthly rental for summer or December)

Terms and Additional Fees

In the summer we do weekly rentals only.  The rest of the year there is a 3 night minimum. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are classified as weekend nights. Monthly rentals begin on a Saturday and end on a Saturday.  They may differ slightly from the actual month dates.  Weekly rentals begin and end on Saturday’s.  Check-In is at 4:00 PM; Check-Out is at 10:00 AM. 

There is a $125 cleaning fee for all rentals.  This is due two weeks prior to arrival.

There is a $400 security and damage deposit ($500 for month-long rentals) which is due two weeks prior to arrival and is refundable within 10 days after checkout.

A 50% deposit is required to reserve your rental.  The second half is due 30 days prior to the rental period.  We do not accept credit cards, but will accept personal checks if received within 30 days prior to check-in or cash.  Rentals are refundable up to 60 days prior to rental and prorated for cancellations less than 60 days prior to rental.
