A day trip to the Everglades is a very enjoyable experience, and a short drive.

Restaurants. Our favorite haunt, Racks & Tails Pub is only a few hundred yards away. Great food, tiki bar, and awesome drink specials. There's a Dairy Queen, Fort Myers Ale House, etc.. within 5-10 minute walk.
Edison Mall is 2 miles away.
Ford-Edison Estates is only a few minutes drive.
Manatee Park. Watch dozens of manatee bask in the warm water discharge from the hydro facility from December-March.
