Beautiful, private oasis in the heart of the Isle of Palms with incredible pool. Close to beach, Marina, and restaurants but perfectly situated for a private getaway.

Gorgeous landscape and open great room full of huge windows looking out to picturesque backyard with live oaks, palms, and pool with waterfall.  Many places to visit near by--biking distance to front beach IOP with restaurants, shops and live music, or to the marina for a boat ride and a meal overlooking the water (Intracoastal Waterway), or the IOP recreation center with the best playground around and many events and activities for families. Walk to the beach and swim in the waves--beaches are clean and not crowded.

Historic downtown Charleston is a short drive away--incredible dining and shopping including the famous Market and Battery, carriage rides, waterfront park, and boat rides. So many places to see--Patriots Point, Fort Moultrie, Fort Sumter, Mount Pleasant's Old Village, Shem Creek restaurants and shrimp docks, plus more beautiful islands and parks near by.

Family Vacation

It was nice to be in a home rather than a hotel and to all be in one place. Unfortunately there is TOO much vegetation around this home plus the fact there is a gully/ravine for water runoff right next to beachhouse which equals ALOT of bugs! Owner said they will be screening in porch/deck area this winter which will at least allow you to eat outside. You literally were never able to be enjoy the front of the house without getting tons of bites. It would have been nice to have the front more cleared so you could sit on the front porch but current landscaping overpowers the entire front yard. The owner came and sprayed to try and eliminate some of the bugs but without eliminating some of the vegetation I don't think it could ever help much. The pool is great but being from the north we are used to heated pools so it would have been nice to have the ability to heat it a little (it was around 78 degrees which felt cold to us). We really enjoyed being able to do laundry everyday and being able to cook rather than having to eat out all the time. The beach is about 8 blocks away which isn't far to walk IF you aren't carrying beach chairs or anything else. There were a couple of bikes that the kids used to get to the beach a few times (but you need to bring your own bike lock). It ended up being easier to just give them a ride to the beach and then pick them up. The owner was very responsive to any calls/texts we sent and very willing to try and help in anyway possible.

Owners response: We are so glad that you were able to enjoy the house and were able to take advantage of our large, well equipped kitchen for family meals! One of the things that you learn by living on a sub-tropical barrier island is that it does not matter how much cutting back, spraying, or wishing you do, there will always be our pesky friends, the mosquitos, visiting along with all of the guests in the month of August. Unfortunately this visit came not only at the height of the mosquito season but also after a lot of rain in the low country. This combination is hard to beat! We guarantee that it would not matter where you were or how much foliage you have on your property at this time--every single property on the island had the same guests. We also understand that it is hard for people from other parts of the country to put up with these "island guests" when you are not used to it. The beautiful, native foliage on our property is exactly what makes our property special and private--we wouldn't change that for anything because we know the reality is there will be no changing the nature of an island with all its native creatures but the benefits far outweigh those little annoyances. With the unspoiled beaches, beautiful houses, tropical plants, history, food, endless fun activities and events, and mild weather year round, we put up with this little inconvenience and love every minute of living here! This property is maintained weekly and sometimes bi-weekly by a landscaper that carefully controls the growth while keeping the beauty. Our house is on a special winding road that cannot be measured in blocks--it is approximately 1/2 mile to the beach. As always, we will respond to any of our guests concerns and do our absolute best to make them comfortable. We are proud of our house and that's why we put so much effort into caring for it. That is also why we are happy to say that we have had many repeat quests that continue to enjoy this wonderful family getaway in our ISLAND FOREST ESCAPE!

Awesome house! Clean and great location

After 16 years, 5 college roommates had a long over due reunion! This house was perfect for the 5 of us. House was very clean and ready for us even earlier than the normal check in time. House is very well stocked (toilet paper, cleaning supplies, dishes, serving pieces etc.). I've had less than acceptable experiences with some property management companies before but McComb services was excellent. Property is exactly as described and photos are still current.

Wonderful house we highly recommend it!

This home is a perfect vacation retreat! It is beautiful and beautifully appointed with everything that you would want in a home. Fully stocked kitchen, IF you want to cook, but just 20 mins from Charleston with all it's wonderful restaurants. Pool is enough to bring me back but the beach is walking distance and a great beach for families with kids. Our hosts, Halle and Neal were always available even to recommend local restaurants and a great farmer's market in the area. We ahve a group of women who participate in this annual beach week and we all agree this is a wonderful place to get away!!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway
