activities and attractions in Venice Los Angeles Area

City Highlights

Located in western Los Angeles, Venice Beach is a wildly popular draw for individuals looking for a good getaway spot. Selecting Venice Beach vacation rentals puts visitors in one of the prime vacation destinations in California. The town was founded in 1905 and was marketed as the Venice of California. Since then, Venice Beach has only grown in popularity, and over the years it has been well built up with beaches, canals, boardwalks, and more. Venice Beach vacation homes are fantastic options for those who are looking for nonstop entertainment and sun during their getaway.

Attractions

Those who choose Venice Beach vacation rentals never have to wonder if they will have enough to do. Venice Beach is arguably the perfect vacation destination thanks to its multitude of attractions, many of which appeal to a wide range of guests. At the top of the list is the Ocean Front Walk. For those who plan a Venice Beach vacation, the Ocean Front Walk is the first place to visit. With live musicians, fortune tellers, and distinctive products, there is something for everyone at the Ocean Front Walk.

Beyond the Ocean Front Walk, some people may be drawn to Muscle Beach. Though the original Muscle Beach was located north of Santa Monica, the modern incarnation is at Venice Beach. This unique gathering place focuses on body building and weightlifting, and celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger have trained there extensively. Muscle Beach features weightlifting equipment and space for gymnastics and other physical activities.

One of the newer attractions that those looking for a Venice Beach vacation condo may be interested in is the Venice Beach Skate Park. This state of the art facility features a variety of obstacles, making it the perfect place to enjoy a skate or to just appreciate the tricks of others. The park is located just next to Muscle Beach and is on the beach.

Activities

Venice Beach vacation rentals are also close to a number of wonderful recreational activities. Some guests may be interested in the wealth of golfing opportunities near Venice Beach. Another relaxing activity can be a spa getaway, with plenty of unique massages and skin treatments to choose from.

If guests wish to enjoy a bit more action while staying in a Venice Beach vacation home, it is also good to remember that Venice Beach is renowned for its intense pickup basketball. There are a variety of courts in the area, and some famous players have been known to hone their skills on the streets of Venice Beach. Other sporting opportunities in Venice Beach include tennis, volleyball, bicycling, and more.

For beach lovers, Venice Beach not only has ready access to the water but is also close to some of the other popular California beaches. In fact, those who choose a Venice beach rental are only five minutes away from both Santa Monica and Marina del Rey.

Shopping

In addition to the other leisure activities available at Venice Beach, those who choose Venice Beach vacation rentals can expect a solid shopping experience. There are four distinct shopping districts in Venice Beach, the first of which is along Ocean Front Walk. This unique stretch has a number of unusual vendors among the other performers and restaurants. The offerings here are eclectic and changing, so it is always worth a look.

For a bit more upscale experience, many guests prefer the shopping along Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Between antiques and boutiques, the selection on Abbot Kinney is sure to appeal to a wide range of shoppers. Shoppers should also be sure to check out some of the vintage clothing stores on Abbot Kinney, which are considered to be some of the top shops in the entire Los Angeles area.

Dining

Venice Beach vacation rentals are also within close distance to some fine dining experiences. Of particular note are the restaurants along Abbot Kinney Boulevard. This thriving street even features Abbot's Pizza, which is well known for its salad pizza. Because Venice Beach is such a popular destination, guests can expect to find restaurants of all styles and price points.

traveler reviews for this venice apartment rental

Spacious, clean and great location, needs more longterm upkeep.

Sabrina (Marin County, California)
Review submitted: May 21, 2013   Date of arrival: May 16, 2013

My husband and I loved the convenience of the property and that we could walk to the beach. Also close to Whole Foods and Abbott Kinney shopping. The condo was very spacious even though the surrounding area is very crowded. When I left something very valuable to me - an irreplaceable journal - behind when we checked out, staff member Carolyn at Globe Homes searched for it and sent it to me promptly.

It is a little shabby inside though clean, the area rug in master bedroom has spots, and the baseboard in bathroom needs replacing. The bath/shower at other end of the apartment needs work and drains slowly. The sound insulation with the below apartment was very good, as long as they weren't in the shared yard. The gate with lock on it to the walkway also needs attention as we couldn't lock it behind us.

Beds and linens were great. Photos were accurate.

We loved the nearness of the beach, Rose Cafe, Cafe Gratitude, Whole Foods, and the shopping and restaurants on Abbott Kinney Blvd, esp Local 1204, with organic roasted meats and great freshly juiced delights. All were in walking distance. I would recommend this property to friends, with the caveat about it being run down.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, tourists without a car

Owners response: Thank you so much for your kindness in review. We are very grateful you took the time to compliment and give us vital feedback to further make our guests' experiences great!

We have already started an action plan using your feedback to make improvements on the property. Thank you so much for that, and we hope you get to return soon.

Sincerely:

Globe Homes and Condos Team

Excellent except for the downstairs neighbours on nights 1 and 2

Trudy (Australia)
Review submitted: May 16, 2013   Date of arrival: May 3, 2013

We loved this property, the position was excellent and house itself was just as described. Comfortable and clean (although the insect screens do need a bit of a clean).

Our only problem with our 6 night stay was the downstairs neighbours on the first 2 nights. The first night they partied until 3am (not appreciated after our long haul flights from Australia). The 2nd night they came home at 2.30am, bought others back with them and partied until 6am with loud music and noise and banging doors.

The area itself isn't the quietest, but you have to expect that in this area, I guess and the convenience and location far outweigh any negatives with regard local noise.

I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car

Owners response: Thank you so much for your feedback! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, and hope that you can come back again. Just as an FYI for yourself and any potential guest, we do offer a 24 hour emergency line that our guests can contact if they experience any issue with another guest or their property. We encourage you to use it in the future for any issue that might come up, we are happy to help!

Globe Homes and Condos Team

Much better place to stay than a stuffy hotel in downtown LA.

Recommended for: families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Awesome!

Really glad you enjoyed your stay and saw the difference between renting a house versus staying in a hotel.
