Commander's Keep - Luxurious Lodging on Trinity Harbour in Trinity Bay

Commander’s Keep Vacation Home is a piece of paradise, showcasing the most spectacular scenery and breathtaking views of the ocean and rugged coastline that Newfoundland has to offer!  When you are ready to escape the frantic pace of the city, this refuge beckons.  Tranquility and peace rejuvenate you as you breathe in the fresh sea air and listen to the lulling sound of the waves rolling onto the rocks and private pebble beach below.

Though this gorgeous three bedroom home was built in 2009, it maintains the feel of a traditional Newfoundland home.  The south-facing side of the house has French doors opening onto a huge wrap-around deck overlooking the ocean.  The sea side of the house consists of full length windows, giving the feeling of being enveloped by the coastal grandeur.   Our oceanfront location affords particularly panoramic views where you can witness spectacular sunsets and unforgettable magenta sunrises.

The main floor is entirely open concept with pine floors, natural wood walls, and high ceilings with wood beams.  The striking feature is the sitting area, centred on the two sided wood burning stone fireplace that extends two storeys high. The modern spacious kitchen is fully equipped to meet your every cuilinary need.  The full bathroom on this level includes complete laundry facilities.  It has an oversized separate shower and a two person soaker tub to spoil you.

The second floor has two additional bathrooms: one full bathroom and a two piece ensuite with the master. All the bedrooms ceiling fans and in addition have windows on two sides, giving terrific breezes.  The huge master bedroom, the “Admiral’s Suite”, has a queen bed; its special feature is its retreat area in the bell dormer that gives you a bird’s eye view of the Harbour, with the ocean beyond.  The “Seaside Suite” has a queen bed, while the “Nautical Suite” has two twin beds.  All have pillow-top beds, luxury linens, comfy quilts and fluffy bathrobes.

Exploring this quaint historic town, one will appreciate that it has maintained the ambience of days gone by.  Within easy walking distance of Commander’s Keep there are daily walking tours, biking, kayaking, boat tours, theatre and fine ‘five star’ dining at Twine Loft. 

Wildlife abounds with whales, dolphins, and sea otters in our waters while bald headed eagles soar above our cliffs.  Throughout Trinity, you will find iris and lupines, daisies, bluebells and buttercups growing wild. 

The ultimate hiking experience awaits you on the trail which follows the heights of the famous Skerwink Cliffs, just across the Bay from us.  Terra Nova National Park with its trails and waterways is a 50 minute drive away northwest of Trinity.  Near the entrance to the Park is a world class golf course which is open to the public.

In spring and early summer, gigantic icebergs drift along the shoreline frequently becoming trapped in the rocky bays and inlets that characterize the coastline....an unforgettable experience unique to Newfoundland!
