Seneca Lake Cottage Rental Discount

vacation rental description

Our cozy cottage is right in the heart of wine country and overlooks Seneca Lake from the east side, so the sunsets are amazing and filled with spectacular colors. Set among summer cottages and homes in a rustic/country-style neighborhood, our property has 50 feet of lake frontage with a dock. Depending on the weather and day of the week, the atmosphere on this uncongested lake ranges from calm and peaceful to joyful and fun.

Our newly renovated cottage features a luxurious bathroom with a whirlpool tub, an open floor plan between the kitchen and living room, and a deck with a comfortable patio set and gas grill. There are two sliding glass doors that lead from the living room to the deck, which allow for nice lake views through the surrounding trees.  Four adults or three adults and two children can sleep comfortably in this one bedroom cottage with a queen-size bed, a twin-size bed, and a full-size pullout futon sofa. The kitchen is fully stocked and the cottage has air conditioning. There is enough parking for two vehicles.

The lakefront has a shaded area with a bonfire ring and picnic table, as well as a sunny dock. You can borrow the owner's kayak and row boat (with oars), or use the floats/tubes, extra chairs, and life preservers that are kept in the boat shed. There's something for everyone, including swimming, boating, kayaking, floating/lounging in the sun, long walks along a dirt road through vineyards, fishing, and romantic evenings watching the sun set and drinking local wine.

cottage rental amenities

- luxurious bathroom with whirlpool tub
- fully stocked kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and cooking/eating utensils
- satellite TV in living room
- wireless internet (see note below)
- air conditioning
- clean linens provided
- clothes washer and dryer
- 50 feet of lake frontage
- parking for two vehicles
- queen-size bed in bedroom, twin-size bed in main room, and full-size pullout futon sofa in living room
- deck facing the lake with a comfortable patio set and gas grill
- the lakefront has a shaded area with a bonfire ring and picnic table, as well as a sunny dock. You can borrow the owner's kayak or row boat, or use the floats/tubes, and extra chairs that are kept in the boat shed
- access to the lake frontage from the yard is by way of a sturdy staircase or by a short road that goes around the neighborhood (about 1/4 mile to our frontage).  The staircase has about 70 steps.  The run for the steps is 11 inches, which is nice, and there are three decks with benches, in case anyone needs to rest or wants to see the view.  It's also very handy to be able to drive down if you're carrying coolers, towels, suntan lotion, or are taking some small kids down all at once.  The road is for limited use, especially on busy weekends, but it is there when you need it.

Note:  Internet is available at the cottage, and you can use up to 1.75 GB of data per week, or 0.25 GB of data per day, for free. That should be way more than enough, unless you're downloading a lot of U-tube videos, playing video games, or watching movies online. Video is usually the only thing that uses so much data. I almost always use less than 1.75 GB in a whole month, and I'm on email and the internet many times a day. If you or your children use more, then we will take $2.50 out of your security deposit for every 0.25 GB of your usage above your allotment. If Verizon didn't charge us for extra data usage, we wouldn't need to do this, so we hope you understand.

traveler reviews for this seneca lake cottage rental

Beautiful views!

Review submitted: May 4, 2012   Date of arrival: April 3, 2012

We took a short, last minute getaway and couldn't be happier! Mary was very accommodating with our late check in time. The cottage is charming and comfortable. We had just as much fun relaxing on the deck and dock as we did jumping from winery to winery (all which are very close to the cottage). The views are amazing and it is a perfect place to escape. We already started discussing another trip in June and hopefully will be able to enjoy a summer weekend at Seneca Lake!

Great Location, with a beautiful view

Review submitted: April 12, 2014   Date of arrival: October 7, 2013

We have stayed in many different cottages in the finger lakes and this was one of the best. The location is perfect, close to the best restaurants and winerys. The cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend away. We enjoyed sitting outside on the cliff edge watching the lake from above. Not only was the cottage perfect, the ride down to the cotttage was out of this world. It is a long driveway that makes you feel like you are driving down the path that the winemakers would use. You are surrounded by vines and an incredible view of the lake. The drive down itself is out of this world. We even stopped and had a picnic in a vineyard one afternoon. You can not go wrong with this cottage. Both myself and my wife travel extensively and own our own restaurant and Inn in Canada and we could not think of anything that was missed in making this a memorable weekend away. Thank you Mary

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Greg, thank you so much for your kind words. We're so glad that you and Rosemari enjoyed your stay, and your time in the Finger Lakes, and it means a lot to get a good review from fellow property owners. Mike and I will really try to visit your inn in Canada at some point too. I agree that driving through the vineyards to get to the cottage does set a nice tone for a relaxing vacation. Our dog and I really enjoy our walks along that country road. The two horses at the top of the road, that our neighbors have, add something special for me too. We are so lucky.

Home away from home

Review submitted: April 2, 2014   Date of arrival: June 15, 2013

We had such a wonderful stay here in 2013, that we are coming back again in 2014! The cottage is very clean, well-kept, and has all the amenities of home. Mary and Mike are wonderful owners and are very accommodating. The sunsets are absolutely breath-taking from the deck and the dock.

The location is perfect because you are a short car ride away from Watkins Glen, Geneva and even Ithaca, and we love that you literally drive through a vineyard to get to the cottage.

It is hard for us to leave our dog at home when on vacation and love that this cottage is extremely dog friendly with a fenced in yard and all.

We hope to stay here for many years to come!

Recommended for: pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Thanks so much for your nice comments. We enjoyed having you at our cottage last year, and are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to seeing you again this June, and are happy you plan to come back for many years to come!
