    Gungywamp Land is a 75 acre forest preserve in Groton, CT. Right next door to Historic Mystic and only a short ride to Foxwoods Resort Casino and the Mohegan Sun Casino. The property features a secluded woodland setting complete with hiking trails, a private pond , and flowing waterfall. The woods are quiet, peaceful and beautiful all year round. There is an abundance of wildlife in the gungywamp woods. Deer, Turkey, a variety of wild birds, and many other forest inhabitants may be viewed on the property.
        There The house itself is located at the end of a mile long dirt road and over looks a private duck pond.  The nearest neighbors can not even be seen though the woods. The house has four bedrooms and two full bathrooms.  It comfortably sleeps eight adults. It has a living room, family room, dining room, and galley style kitchen. Each floor features a walk out deck overlooking the pond. A great place for relaxing and enjoying what nature has to offer.

Convenient yet private

We stayed in this wonderful house when we came to the area for my son's graduation from the US Coast Guard Academy in nearby New London. The house is minutes away from everything yet very private. We were able to go back and forth to all the activities and graduation celebrations then come back and unwind in this peaceful setting. The caretakers are marvelous people and have thought of everything to make your stay here enjoyable. We had various family members coming and going all week and were very comfortable here. While our stay focused on grad-week activities, we were able to spend some time exploring the trails and rock formations on the property, and going to some of the area attractions. My husband is disabled (but not wheelchair bound) and he had no problems remaining safe and comfortable on the main floor. We had two young children (ages 6 and 7) and they had a blast exploring, lots of room to run. I read another review that was disappointed no play sets for kids, but I felt this was a plus! The kids did more exploring and imagination games. Outdoor games were available, yet the boys had more fun without them! The nearby grocery store had a huge selection of fresh foods and cut our dining bill down considerably. The price on this rental can't be beat and it is absolutely charming!If I ever have the opportunity to return to the area I will definitely stay here again!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

A Magical Place

Great house at end of mile long dirt road. Very private, pond with bass, walking to see stone dwellings, firepit for campfire. We had 9 people (3 children) and were very comfortanble. The kitchen was fitted out with better cookware than my own. Very clean but older. Not for people who like cushy hotels. Great for kids to collect bugs, look for deer, pick grapes, look at the stars. very close to Mystic and only minutes from the Nautilus Museum.
Some obstacles for disabled people...a few steps.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Great nature

The description is very accurate and the house was exceptionally clean. All amenities are new. The owners are very helpful and friendly. I got new pans immediately after my call that I have a problem with the old one. They have many infos about activities and attractions. But we spend most of the time on the property as it is so peaceful and relaxing. We visited Mystic (15 min drive) - great shopping and restaurants and marine, and a beach in Noak (small, clean, is more interesting for children that for adults). Stop and Shop is nearby (10 min drive). But there is much more to see.
We did see deers, turkeys and a fox on the property. Many birds. Our son was excited. Very quite - you only hear water fall and birds.
The kitchen is full equipped so we cooked self (I missed grill-pan). But we visited Mystic Pizza once and it was very good.
The house is great for families with children, but I missed a sand box or a swing or a climber for children outdoor. Especially while it is lot of space.
Yes, and WiFi is very slow and unstable. But we didn't ask if it is possible to fix it, so may be it is solvable.
Overall it is a great place for a relaxing vacation for people who love nature and forests. We'll definitely come again.
