Lovingly restored in 2007 by two yoga teachers, one of whom is a designer, the other an art collector, the result is a unique combination of elegance and simplicity. My goal was to create a completely comfortable home echoing the rugged privacy of Big Sur, yet with the comforts visitors to Carmel cherish.

From the Vermont Wood Castings stove to the Miele washer/dryer, the Waterworks Satin Nickel bathroom fixtures, deep soaking tub, 500 thread count sheets and thick bath towels, the result is the best of both worlds, total comfort and rustic charm. Only recently made available as a vacation rental, the home boasts a new dining room with an elegant Italian glass top table seating 10 or more, and two brand new bedrooms downstairs, one of which is a two room suite. All bedrooms have expensive and luxurious pillow top mattresses for ultimate comfort.

Located on a promontory, 1200 feet above the Pacific, the home offers unobstructed views of the ocean, Rocky Creek Watershed and the Ventana Wilderness. Yet it is only 20 minutes from Carmel and a few more to the center of Big Sur, along one of most beautiful "commutes" in the world.

The home is 2.5 miles up Palo Colorado Road, with it's majestic redwoods and year around creek, then an additional 3/10 miles up a private road. Further up the road, The Mill Creek County Park dedicated to preserve a major stand of redwoods, and the Botcher's Gap access to Ventana Wilderness provide the most amazing hiking opportunities. Down at the coast, Rocky Creek Restaurant offers incredible ocean front views and a great place to walk (or drive) for breakfast.

It is built into the hillside, so its two stories offer minimal environmental impact and maximum privacy. The property manager is near, yet you have total privacy.

Catering, Massage, and a variety of body work therapies can be arranged as can private yoga sessions. In fact, if I am in town, I offer complimentary yoga for my guests.  For a service charge plus food costs, I'm happy to stock the refrigerator with adequate notice

The three bedrooms, American Leather sleepers, plus an air bed make the cozy home accessible to up to 13 folks, yet it is perfect for a couple also.

As this has been a personal residence, it is stocked as a home, not a vacation rental: stainless steel pots & pans, espresso machine, elegant linens, a gas grill, and many other creature comforts

Hiking is right out the door, or the entire Ventana wilderness is accessible at the end of our road. All the spectacular activities of Big Sur, plus the Monterey aquarium, Carmel's shopping and restaurants, and of course, world class golf are a short drive away

Winter Rates (Jan 9-March 31) from $$275 per night for 2 guests

Shoulder Rates (April/May & Nov/Dec, except holidays) from $425/night for up to 6 guests

Peak Rates (June-Oct) from $475/night for up to 6 guests.

$200 surcharge for groups of 10 or more

additional adults $50/night

Children 2-17 $25 per night

Kids under 2 no charge.
