Great Place for a Getaway

Kendra S. ()
Review submitted: January 16, 2013   Date of arrival: December 30, 2012

We enjoyed our New Years Eve getaway at Charterallamimac. This place is so much better than the picutres show. 2 families shared this house comfortably. The kids (ages 11-15) loved having the basement as their own space. It is conveniently located close enough to Grayling to pick up a few supplies but far enough away to feel rustic. We also enjoyed skiing, tubing and snowmobiling in the area. Charlotte provided very quick responses to our inquiries. The Champagne & Sparkling Cider welcome gifts were a very nice touch. We will definately stay again.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Kendra: Thanks so much for your fantastic review! We look forward to seeing you again! Kind regards, Charlotte & Terry Bloomquist

My husband and I wanted a peaceful vacation but not boring. We had plenty to do at Charterallamimac and in the surrounding area. At the same time we had peace and quite. We would return in a heartbeat for whatever our vacation needs are in the future!

Wonderful couples retreat!

Jeremy (Chicago, IL)
Review submitted: September 7, 2011   Date of arrival: September 2, 2011

My wife and I stayed at the cabin with 3 other couples over Labor Day weekend for 3 nights and we all had a blast. The house was plenty big enough for all 8 of us (although 2 couples, myself and my wife included, had to share the downstairs bedroom with another couple but it wasn't too bad since we knew them well). The two bathrooms were perfect for the couples to split so everyone's towels/toiletries weren't all in one bathroom.

Pretty much everything we needed for the weekend was there (things like pitchers for making drinks, tupperware for leftovers, and even some hotel-size bars of soap/shampoo if you forgot yours) and we all loved playing darts, ping pong, pool, cards, and board games. We brought some lawn games and had room to play in the front yard while grilling and having the fire going. The sauna was also very nice as the temperature started to dip towards the end of the weekend and if you ventured in the water, you definitely were able to warm up in the sauna before heading in. Satellite TV was there too so we were able to catch the first UofM/MSU games of the season. The kayaks were also nice to have as we were able to kayak up the river til our arms were tired and then drift home (the river was very clean too)

Probably our favorite part was the huge front porch (the picture does not do it justice) that allowed all of us to enjoy being outside while sitting around and chatting. We also were thankful there was firewood provided so it was easy to make a fire every night. The house was very clean and well taken care of and it felt like we were just staying at a friend's house.

We don't have anything negative to say about the Charterallamimac and are thankful to Charlotte and Terry for letting us enjoy their home. I would not be surprised at all if we decided to come back here again in the future!

Recommended for: families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway

Owners response: What can we say! It is a wonderful review and everything they say is there! We will work on a better picture of the huge wrap around deck! The full basement can accomodate as many people as you wish that are willing to sleep on couch, cots, etc.!!! The bedroom down there has two sets of bunkbeds and there is a full bathroom.
