Single Family w/ 3 Bedrooms - 2 Bathrooms - Sleeps 6
This large three-bedroom home is a fairytale cottage in a quiet, wooded setting a short walk to
Niles Beach and the Rocky Neck Art Colony in East Gloucester. It was built for the mistress of T.S.
Eliot and was moved (for unclear reasons) to its current retreat-like location a few blocks from its
original location It's called the Seabreeze Cottage for the cross breezes that float through the
house from Niles Beach and Brace Cove, keeping it cool and comfortable.
It is an older home with lots of wonderful quirky qualities, like the balcony overlooking the dining
room, the beamed living room ceiling, the large, morrocan style fireplace there and the second
fireplace in the vaulted dining room. It is furnished with antiques and comfortable upholstered
furniture.
The house has two bedrooms on the second floor and one on the first. The master bedroom has a queen
bed and the other two have doubles. Also provided are an additional Aero bed (twin) and a cot which
is best for small children. There are two bathrooms.
There is a fenced back yard and a deck off the kitchen for sunny relaxation. Lots of space to run
and play for kids. No traffic, as the house is on a private road shared by only one other house.
Off the deck is a 'summer house' which provides a fabulous almost-outdoor relaxing or sleeping
experience. The breezes waft through and it stays cool on the hottest days and nights.
There are many amenities within walking distance, including Niles Beach, the Rocky Neck Art Colony's
galleries, restaurants and scenic outlooks, and the Gloucester Stage. Also within easy driving
distance are beautiful Good Harbor Beach, the Eastern Point Lighthouse and Dogbar breakwater,
beautiful walks through Eastern Point, and many stores. Downtown Gloucester, where there are many
more great shops, restaurants, art & maritime museums, as well as whale-watching boats and other
such attractions, are a five-minute drive way.
House is fully stocked with linens, towels, barbeque equipment and
kitchen stuff. Everything you'll need is there. There is lots of outdoor furniture and some
additional temporary beds (futon, air bed, etc.).
Beaches, art galleries, restaurants, beautiful walks, and a theatre are all within walking
distance. In the towns of Gloucester and Rockport there are tons of other activities as well --
whale watching, kayaking, deep sea fishing boats, hiking, sailing, a maritime, a shipbuilding, and
an art museum... -- too many to list!
$1500 per week Memorial Day to Labor Day; discounts for longer rentals. This property is also
available as a year-round rental beginning in September.
Please note: Minimum rental is ONE WEEK. Please do not inquire about shorter term rentals.
