Fine Tooth Comb...

Our Family had a wonderful time staying at this cabin. The location was perfect - only minutes from all of our planned activities. A perfect vacation - that is until the night before we left.
While lifting a board game box off of the coffee table, the table literally collapsed - the heavy glass top almost hitting myself and my 4 year old son. We immediately called the caretaker to let him know what happened - and then after further examination, it became obvious that the table had been broken previously and glued back together - which we made the caretaker aware of. When I inquired several weeks later about our Safety Deposit, I was told that per the agreement, the deposit would be withheld because the break "happened during our stay". We had taken photos, and I e-mailed them to the owners. Now, almost 3 weeks later, I have yet to receive a response.
Please be sure that as soon as you arrive you go through the cabin with a fine tooth comb and look for ANYTHING that may be broken. Oh, and if the table has been re-glued - don't even breathe on it!
My only other issue with the cabin is that it could stand to have been cleaned a bit better. There were very large, very old cobwebs everywhere. I understand that in a cabin, there are bound to be some, but they were right within reach the day we checked-in and would have taken only minutes to clean up.
I wish I could have given a better review, because really, up until the last night - it was almost perfect.

Owners response: Home is cleaned and inspected after each guests stay. Bear table with glass top was moved from it's original location in front of the sofa to the center of the rug. Design of the table is a full size bear lying on its back with 4 legs up to support the glass top. There is no way to know what method was used to move the bear table. Notification of the incident was provided to the caretaker on the last day of the guests stay. The caretaker immediately notified me. He stated that the table was fine prior to their arrival and that the bear was not in its original location. He removed the table from the premises. A Security Deposit is obtained at booking and withheld only in the case of damages, missing contents, lost keys, locksmith charges, check fees, pets on the premises without approval and for too many guests as stated our Policy and Procedures.

Small slice of heaven

Rhonda and I have had the opportunity and good fortune of staying at treetops twice, we will be back again. The week was very relaxed made more so by the wonderful Treetops house. It was clean well laid out with absolutely wonderful views. It was hard to leave each day for an excursion when you had everything you came to NC right at the house. Great place to stay.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

A wonderful vacation at Treetops!

We absolutely loved our week at Treetops! We felt comfortably at home from the moment we arrived at this lovely cabin that is nestled high on a mountain with a spectacular view of the little town of Whitier and the beautiful Smokies. We also loved that it is located just minutes from Bryson City and to the entrance of The Great Smokies national Park. We had great fun exploring the area all week and we always looked forward to returning to Treetops at the end of the day.
The owners have provided a lovely vacation retreat and we will absolutely return to this property again!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing
