The Log Cabin is a two bedroom, one bath western cedar home nestled
among old growth hardwood trees sits on 1/2 acre and is a
perfect "get away to nature" without being too far from town; total
area of about 1000 sq.ft. This 1990 dwelling can sleep six
people. Located between the Gulf Coast area of Crystal
River /Homosassa Springs and the major Disney/Central Florida
attractions of Orlando. (the cabin is just 8 miles east of Inverness
FL.) It is only a mile away from the famous waters of
the "Withlachoochee" River, and it is close to all of the major
attractions in the Tampa Bay area.

The cabin is centrally located that many day trips are possible.
Disney is about 1 hour away to the east, Ford Island Gulf Beach is
45 minutes west and very secluded. Wild Bill's Airboat Tours is
right nearby and a great restaurant, Fisherman's Cove. Below is a
link to nearby Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge.

log cabin in the woods of florida

we loved the look of the cabin as we arrived. the description was as accurate as possible, but left out a few details. one of the beds was a water bed that was under inflated....as one with a bad back this was a disappointment and a backache every morning. the second bedroom did not have air conditioning, though not an issue as long as doors to rooms were left open. the bed in the second bedroom could use a new matress. the sleeping arrangements for 6 people meant that 2 people would need to sleep on a couch/futon in the living room.

the kitchen was well stocked with needed cooking pots and pans. everything in the kitchen was clean and presented well.

the bathroom also presented well, until you tried to take a shower. the shower head put out less water than the bath tub faucet and smelled of sulfur. we showered daily at the home of friends/family we were visiting, a large inconvience.

the log cabin is beautiful, just needs updating. we were disappointed that the home was musty and smelled of mildew when we arrived, but this was probably due to being closed up for a couple of weeks in the dead summer in florida. much of the furniture had to be cleaned when we arrived as allergies flaired because of the mildew.

the cabin is secluded and not for those who aren't use to rustic! we enjoyed that part of our visit. we would return and stay again as it is our "type" of place provided our concerns were addressed.

the owner/secretery was very helpful, as this was a last minute visit. she provided local information, not found on the internet or local pamphlets. much appreciated!

was able to obtain many artistic and wildlife pictures around the cabin, which was a pleasure.

it has been a week since we left our stay and have not been contacted by the owner about how our stay was or when we would receive our security deposit refund.

we were impressed that after a severe storm the next door neighbor came over to make sure everything was okay. it was much appreciated!

Great get away from it all!

This is a great place to get away from the busy towns and lives. You can relax and enjoy nature. This was a great place for reconnecting. It was great to be able to bring our dog along with us, too.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, pet-friendly, romantic getaway
