AWESOME SUMMER RETREAT!

We stayed in this home the second week of August 2007 and it was FABULOUS! It was large enough to comfortably house my friend and our 5 kids combined. The kids LOVED the huge yard and expansive woods with the brook. We found very little reason to leave, though we had planned several day trips and access to major routes was simple.

The house was immaculate and every possible appliance was available --- even a rotisserie! All the foil, plastic, wrap, garbage bags, and ziplocs anyone could need were also stockpiled. I have rented other houses where I had to purchase my own toilet paper, but this place was fully ready for our stay. We never ran out of towels and had a dryer to fluff them up, if necessary. When I stay the next time, I will pack less clothing since the washer and dryer worked so well.

The garage was filled with pool toys and games for the huge yard. There were also plenty of games, books, and movies for the kids to enjoy on the one rainy day during our stay. The owners were very kind when they walked us through the property and they were available for all of our needs via cell phone.

Long summer days in the pool and cool evenings in the jacuzzi with the occasional jump into the above-ground pool to cool off. I cannot fully express how relaxing and fun this trip was. I am looking forward to another trip in 2008!

This house is very basic and right next to the Mass turnpike as in you can hear the turnpike anytime you are outside. The basement bedroom suite is very musty. The hot tub is luke warm and the kitchen amenities are very basic as in no tea kettle or wine glasses and the water purifier on the faucet was broken. The owner was not very clear about what cleaning was required and she charged us $100 even though we washed all of the sheets and towels. The contract states the $100 charge but there were no directions or clarity about expectations of how we should leave it. I have never lost any security deposit in 25 years of renting properties. It was a cheap house, only worth it if all you are going to do there is sleep.

Wonderful family home with fully equiped kitchen.

The house in Otis was just as promised. Upon arrival, the owners greeted us and showed us around. The house was fully stocked with hand soap, laundry soap, toiletpaper, paper towels and all the kitchen baggies, alluminum foil etc. you could wish for. The modern washing machine and dryer are on the second floor, so very easy to get to and use. There was nothing we wished we had brought, but plenty of things we could have left at home! They had DVD's, games, outdoor toys for the kids. We especially loved the hottub. That was a real treat for us. The house sits on a quiet street, about 5 miles from town. We shopped for our groceries before we arrived and we were easily able to store a weeks' worth of food in the huge pantry and fridge. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable. We would certainly recommend the house to friends and would consire staying again next year. Our family of (combined) 9 people found plenty of space in the house. The four kids loved the yard and grandpa enjoyed the 60 inch screen TV.
We enjoyed the Birkshires and everything ity has to offer.
