House and Garden Tour Favorite in San Miguel de Allende

My husband and I are artists, and this is the second house we've built for ourselves in San Miguel. It's a very easy place to live in, airy and quiet and elegant and spacious My husband's a painter, so there's a large artist's studio, and I write, so there's a lovely study with a balcony. The living room wallows in the luxury of red velvet. The bathrooms are all quietly goofy. You don't just look at the gardens, you walk through them. It's been on the House and Garden Tour many times, and what can I say? Everybody loves it!

"Of course you know that this is a beautiful place, but I'll just add a stranger's viewpoint that it is a special home. I really got to love the retreat to the bedroom at night, as if the rest of the house weren't calm enough. I spend a lot of time around good design through volunteer work I've been doing for the National Trust for Historic Preservation for a long time, so lucking into a place so modern, so beautiful, and also so in tune with its surroundings was an unexpectedlly great part of my trip. "Gorgeous surprise

I stayed for a month this fall. The owners are artists and it shows in the wonderful and unusual design, unusual meaning full-on modern behind the usual San Miguel wall against the street. I loved the location on a narrow little street with very little traffic. I felt like I was visiting someone's very cool home, which I guess I was. There is great light, everything works, and the master bedroom is just plain sexy. I never needed a car. The jardin is about 10 minutes easy walking."

Garage with automatic door, Wifi, TV, purified water, Vonage phone, washing machine and dryer.

Lots of birds chirping. There are gardens to either side of us which seem to draw millions of birds.

Marta comes Mondays and Fridays from 9 to 2 or more. She will do your wash and water the garden and clean, of course. A gardener to make things bloom comes Saturdays. 

Spacious large cool artist's studio with skylight, two gardens plus one roof terrace, two bedrooms, and very nice study with it's own balcony.
