Great place on Tybee

This was a wonderful place to stay on Tybee Island. The unit was clean and well furnished. The location could not be beat. The decks overlooking the ocean/beach were awesome. It was also walking distance to shops and restaurants. The kitchen and baths could use a little updating but were well equipped. The unit however did not have a grill which would have been nice. The living area had new hard wood floors and was very nice. Overall, this was a great place to stay on Tybee Island.

Recommended for: families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing

Our vacation destination this year was Savannah but with Tybee Island being less than 20 miles away, when we found this rental, we ended up with the best of both worlds. There's nothing like the beach! We originally thought the northern part of the island would be nicer but with 17 and 18 year old girls, we wanted to be within walking distance of the action at the pier. As it turned out, this property at the southern tip was the nicest part of the island. Not crowded, the tides were something to see with the numerous sand bars, and we really liked the place overall. The price was great and gave us everything we were looking for with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a hot tub. Unfortunately, just before we were to leave, we were told the hot tub wasn't heating but we were given a very fair discount to compensate. The tub was filled for us anyway, and we ended up using it during the day to cool off sunning on the deck. The decks were great. We used the lower one for the most part which gave us shade early in the day if we wanted it and sun on the part that wasn't under cover. The property was clean and provided what we needed but we could tell that work was being done on it. The carpet needed cleaned and the walls painted but that was no big deal to us. Had some trouble with the new door from the lower level entrance as it was sticking and could be really tricky. We would stay there again in a heartbeat, though. Really felt it was a great spot, great price and very nice place. A note if you plan to vacation on Tybee, Ft. Pulaski was a delightful surprise if you're into that kind of thing, definitely go. As far as dining, for an overall experience (or if you're really into all boiled seafood, and I mean all) go to The Crab Shack. Macelwees Seafood House was very good but the ambience of the place is just inside the restaurant (we were in the back). Our definite favorite place to eat was AJ's Dockside! Excellent food, and it was wonderful sitting out on the dock. Also, definitely check out Savannah. We went into the city three times and it still wasn't enough time to do all we wanted, and don't pass up Bonaventure Cemetary. We took the tour which was definitely worthwhile and the place is stunningly beautiful! We would definitely recommend this rental and enjoyed our trip immensely!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway
