The best vacation rental is the one that meets with our expectations.
I like to travel, and I HATE to be let down in my vacation time. I
like clean, I like fresh, I like updated. I expect to find what is
being advertised. If you are seriously considering OUR vacation home,
I strongly recommend you write to us: I want you to know exactly what
you can expect, as well as our "rules of the road". Not for you? No
problem. We wish you the best; you'll never get unsolicited mail from
us. We only open our own vacation home to those who will enjoy
it, and respect it. If you are looking for a place to trash & crash,
this is not for you: You will feel uncomfortable here... please keep
looking. If you are looking for a quiet area, a B&B comfy type of
atmosphere (minus other people), this might be right for you. Keep

* So - our 4 weeks plus 1 day are almost done. The time passed in a
flash. We were very pleased with the cottage - a cozy "cottage"
decor, and clean. The stream outback and all it holds was very
enjoyable, and a couple of excursions on the kayaks were well worth
the efforts.
We particularly enjoyed some time on the waterfront in Old Homosassa
& dinner at Crumps, across the river. Cedar Key was worth the drive
(funky little spot) + Crystal River were we saw manatees + dolphins.
The area is well named - The Nature Coast.

~~~Our secret combination: Only minutes from supermarkets, banks,
Wal-Mart, spas and restaurants, yet a feeling of being far away
in the country; a private home - cozy but up-dated; a boat slip
and 2 kayaks for your use; weekly housekeeping; woods in the
front, fresh water in the back.
~~~Here the traditional Cottage decor overlays the modern comforts
in many subtle ways: spa-like bathroom, fully rebuilt kitchen
mixed with some wall-paneling, fireplace, fleece throws, games,
music, books. Boring? Absolutely not.
~~~We loaded the place with all kinds of mood lights.

~~~Cable TV + CD player, books & games,2nd TV/w VHS & tapes
~~~WI-FI available - bring your laptop.
~~~Refrigerator, gas range, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, juicer,
indoor grill, breakfast bar.

~~~Portable heaters in the bedrooms.
~~~One queen and one double bed, rooms beautifully furnished.
~~~Full laundry; linens, towels, cooking and serving ware.

This is what this place does for us, the owners:
It is a crispy 60 degrees, sunny afternoon, and we just came in with
fresh dinner treats (light up a fire later). The smells of
burning food (oops, I mean wood) will invite us into the heart:
kitchen! And look out the woods, honey: our clear spring floats our
guest down towards the Halls River.
Soon they'll be back, after meandering thru a series of 3 pristine,
tranquil lakes, catching bass, blue crabs and spooking schools of
mullets. They will be welcomed back with a double-headed steaming
shower and a pile of hot white towels. It's cold: 50 degrees today!
We came back this morning from a journey through a bird sanctuary,
winding through miles of canoe trails. Didn't see any manatees today.
Perhaps tomorrow we'll go to Crystal River and catch up with some
pods. Will you join us for a day out in the Gulf of Mexico?
Look, you can stay and fish off the little bridge, coming back to the
Cottage for a refreshing drink in the late afternoon out on our sun
deck? How about we start writing a book together?
Later we'll all sit by the fireplace. I like to play "Chicken Feet"
dominoes...
Do you know much about constelations? I have this book here, let's
take it out to the sundeck tonight?
You could also treat yourself to a casual but elegant dinner at the
traditional Plantation Inn Golf & Country Club. Nah... We can have
some King-Crab-Huge-Legs right here, babe! I'll cook and you give me
a back rub. Deal?

Yes, our Zen Cottage is THE place we love to be, either for a quiet
romantic interlude, or with those friends who love a splash or a fun
boat ride.

~~~Have an outing on the Rainbow River in Dunellon;
~~~take a short ride to Ocala to experience the Silver Springs;

~~~Squeeze in a day-pass at Disney;
~~~Enjoy a spa package.
