Billings Lake Cottage sits high above Billings Lake with beautiful views of the the lake, the islands and the opposite shoreline.   There is a view of the lake from inside in the living room and also upstairs from the sheltered porch.  The cottage was totally redone in 2009.  On the main level there is the main bedroom, the living room with a wood burning soapstone stove, dining area, the fully applianced kitchen and the full bath.  On the second floor it is set up to be a sitting area or pull out any of the 6 beds (1 full and 5 twins) and make it a second bedroom for another family with the half bath and closet and dresser. 

Follow the natural rock pathway while holding onto the curved railing down to the water and there a kiddie area that was built up with rock and sand for the little ones and rock steps into the water for swimming.  Also bring your boat and you can dock it at your own private dock.  Or use either the canoe, paddle boat, kayak or one of the 2 hydrobikes to go explore the islands and coves. 

Bring your RV for another family or for the kids to sleep in and hook it up to water and electric in the parking area, also with great views.

Perfect romantic get-away! <3

We were graciously accommodated at the last minute for an anniversary get-away. The cottage itself appears to be newly remodeled,is decorated warmly, was perfectly clean and very comfortable. It has a lovely 2nd floor balcony overlooking the real attraction: the pristine lake. Although the lake is ringed with cottages the property feels very private. There are water bikes, a pedal boat, a canoe and kayak for exploring the water - we were mostly content to relax and take in the view - especially the sunrise over the water and the amazing night sky with so little "light pollution." So very grateful for a truly romantic weekend - but we will be back next year with the kids since it seems a great place for family fun as well!

Recommended for: families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway

House was in good shape. Lake was clean and beautiful! We would rent it again! Quaint and quiet cabin that was just the right size for a family of 4!

An Absolute Treasure

Wonderful find! You’ll drive into the woods to find the house nestled in the back atop a cliff. The home was spic and span smelling of freshness. The floors, appliances, walls and even décor is all brand new and thoughtfully chosen. We wanted a restful getaway looking of cooking with fresh local produce and lazy days on the lake. This delivered. The kitchen is well stocked with every appliance there are nearby farms, markets, even home-made ice cream shops. We spent hours on the lake with the multiple water toys that come with the house. There were water bikes, a canoe, paddle boat and even floats to lie around on. We barbequed and sat at the picnic table overlooking the lake, had brunch on the 2nd floor balcony watching the sun rise and took in the last bits of sun in the evening laying on the large rocks at the edge of the water. Neighbors were so friendly and helpful often stopping and chatting as we passed each other on the lake or passing us as we hiked through the woods. The lake was definitely large enough to keep yourself busy and it was never overrun by crowds and tourists. This is'nt a touristy area rather it’s a lovely community of regular vacation home-owners. My nephews came to visit and had no problem wading into the water for their first lake experience ever. The home owners have built a mock beach at the water’s edge such that kids can walk in for about 6 feet of a protected walled off area where the water only comes up about 2 feet and the bottom is covered with sand. The 2 year old loved to just splash around that area and count the fish. We took them out on every water toy there and they had a blast! They seemed much less scared then when they are at the beach because there’s no fearful waves or as the 4 year old said…no sharks! That being said when it rained for two days straight there was enough close by to keep a 2 & 4 year old busy indoors. There’s the kid arcade in Foxwoods and Aquarium in Mystic. Everything seems to only be 20minutes away, even Rhode Island and the popular Misquamicut beach near Westerly. We spent a wonderful night there at the drive in watching Goonies after the kiddy rides and waterslide park across the street. Watch Hill had beautiful homes and Mystic had their famous delicious pizza and unique boutiques. I recommend it highly though I hope that doesn’t mean that it’ll become the next hot spot to visit because it’s nice and peaceful just the way it is!
