vacation rental description

Our condo is called ”Le Chocolat Chaud”, in The Quartier Petit-Champlain neighborhood  This property is situated on theSaint Lawrence River, right in the heart of the "Old City" or in French referred to as “Vieux-Quebec”.  The loft is in a beautiful old building from the early 1800's and has been newly restored.  The building is surrounded by cobble stone roads, within a quaint village setting.  Driving is not required as you are in the centre of the action, dining, shopping, museums, walking trails, ferry rides and the list goes on.

The Condo Unit: "Le Chocolat Chaud" is a newly renovated, 1 bedroom loft and sleeps 2 people, has beautiful original brick walls, 14' old wide beam ceilings and huge windows, just like you have stepped into old France.  It also features a full bathroom, full separate bedroom, washer/dryer and kitchen, dining room open to a living room.

Roof Top Terrace:  On the roof top, there is a 360 look-out lounge where you can enjoy great views of both the river, Le Chateau Frontenac, cruise ships and walking trails.  This room is heated in the cool months so you can enjoy a glass of red wine and some French cheese while you take in the beautiful landscape.

Surrounding Area:  The streets surrounding our building are all cobblestone and wonderful to walk through. There are many art galleries, bistros and patisseries (bakeries) to explore and the whole experience for a week or weekend can be a complete gastronomic delight!  We have left a "market basket" for those of you who would like to experience the local market which is only a 10 minute walk and shop for your favorite European treats, vegetables, herbs and meats (seasonable) and bring them back to the condo to enjoy.

The loft is fully equip. so all you need are your groceries, toiletries and VOILA!Quebec City is beautiful all year long and especially amazing for winter lovers (down hill & cross country skiing, snowmobile rentals) because Mt. Ste. Anne is just a 30 minute drive East and Le Massif is just beyond.

traveler reviews for this quebec city condo rental

Perfect location, nice amenities

Review submitted: May 6, 2013   Date of arrival: April 27, 2013

Condo= 5 stars. Everything you need to feel at home. It really is most ideal for 2 people.

Location= 5 stars: Centrally located in the historic part of old town. Next door to, and within easy walking distance of just about everything. We use the term "easy walking" loosely, because there are some steep hills and steps to climb. Our car was parked across the street from the condo's building and was never needed.

Eating= 5 stars: Wow. MANY choices of cuisine. We ate at a different restaurant for lunch and dinner our entire stay and still hadn't come close to finding all the hot spots. Just be aware, food is a bit expensive. We saved money on breakfast and evening snacks by buying food from a local farmers market and a Metro grocery; Again, within walking distance or a short drive. The condo provides everything you need to cook and refrigerate.

Language barrier = 4.5 stars. We are from the USA and there were a couple occasions where locals had a hard time with English. With my wife's help ( she speaks some French) we managed without any real difficulty. Most locals speak both English and French, and were very friendly. I know they appreciated "Hello" and "Thank you" and any effort in their native tongue. Any stereotypical trait about them being "rude" certainly was not true.

Suggestions: Visit the Musee du Fort first. It gives you and excellent historical perspective on the city and it's history and better appreciation of the places you will want to visit.

Overall: 5 stars. and yes we would do it again.

This elegant, clean, and well-appointed condo is a gem. Right in the heart of our favorite part of of Vieux Québec. We've stayed in many places in the City over the years and this proved to be the most convenient and easy to enjoy.
