vacation rental description

This romantic cabin is within the Giant Sequoia National Monument at 3800' elevation with a breathtaking view of the Sierra to the east and an expansive view of the valley (sometimes to the Coast Ranges) to the west.

A stunning waterfall and series of pools carved out of solid granite bedrock are on the property just behind the cabin on Bear Creek for cooling off or relaxing by. The cabin sits above the waterfalls and access is by a short but steep switchback trail down to creek level. (General terrain and trail may be difficult for some children and adults not in good physical shape. Ask owner)

It's a perfect 'out there' couple's or writer's retreat for those who want to lose the touristy scene and find some serenity.

The cabin is surrounded by pines, oaks and manzanitas and serenaded by the sound of the waterfall. The site was a long-time camp for local Native Americans. Artifacts have been discovered here and mortar stones for grinding acorns surround the cabin.

The house is located on Bear Creek Road within the Giant Sequoia National Monument, and 10 miles from the quaint village of Springville . Drive 8 miles farther up the mountain and drive, hike, ski or horseback to ancient Giant Sequoia groves and idyllic mountain lakes in Balch Park .

traveler reviews for this sequoia cabin rental

Glorious!

Review submitted: December 19, 2007   Date of arrival: August 1, 2007

My husband and I spent two wonderful weeks at the Waterfall Cabin. It was all it was described to be and more! The proximity of the Great Sequoias makes the area special, to say the least. The owners of the property are gracious and hospitable, for example offering homegrown veggies from their garden. The furnishing of the cabin is clean, comfortable and tasteful, truly lovingly cared for. Not only would I recommend this property to anyone, but we hope to visit again in the near future.

A sense of serenity

MelissaJM (Los Angeles)
Review submitted: April 30, 2013   Date of arrival: April 19, 2013

Everything about this place was perfect. The cabin was so cozy, we left the curtains wide open throughout our stay so that we could relax with the view of the trees and the sounds of the waterfall. This home definitely has some peaceful energy and makes you feel at home. The main purpose of our visit was to hike through the sequoia forest, which was a bit far from the cabin but it was absolutely beautiful and worth it. We even came across many snow patches on our hiking trail. As we were getting back from the forest, cows were trying break into the front yard but were blocked off by the property's fences (I just thought it was hilarious). After a long hike, the cabin felt so nice to end the night at. We BBQ'd and enjoyed our meals in front of the fire place. As I mentioned, everything felt so right. I can't wait to visit again soon and get away from the tiring routine of everyday work life and the ignorance of LA area living.

Thank you so much,
Melissa & Marilyn
