activities and attractions in Depoe Bay Oregon

In addition to the wonderful condominium, The Clubhouse at The Village provides guests access to an indoor pool, hot tub, workout room, 19-seat theater room, and pool table.

Depoe Bay is teeming with marine life and rich in natural resources. The stunning beauty of Depoe Bay’s rugged rocky coastline, snug harbor and easy access via Highway 101 make it one of the most popular destinations along the Central Oregon Coastline.

This fairy tale fishing village is brimming with colorful stores, gift shops and galleries featuring maritime collectibles, fine art, apparel and the tastiest candies and salt water taffy available. Watch whales frolic and feed in our bay, explore tide pools and feel the power of the surf. At day’s end, follow the path of the setting sun as it sinks into the Pacific in a blaze of glory.

Depoe Bay’s cozy, casual cafes and fine restaurants feature every cuisine, most with our bountiful fresh sea-food as the centerpiece. Enjoy lavish buffets that are hometown favorites, sample award winning wines and dance to live music when the stars come out!

Because of its proximity to the ocean, fisherman or whale watchers can be from dockside to viewing or fishing in a matter of minutes. The harbor stirs at dawn every day of the year for explosive deep-sea fishing action. Charters sail year ‘round for Ling Cod and 20 varieties of tasty rockfish, plus trophy Chinook and Coho Salmon, Halibut, Albacore Tuna and Dungeness crab during the seasons.

Our stay at the Lighthouse

KTbyrd (Salt Lake City,Utah)
Review submitted: June 23, 2011   Date of arrival: June 15, 2011

My daughter and I took her two kids, age 3 and 4, to the beach. They were entranced. They sat for hours at the windown watching the waves and the kids flying kites and the birds. We never found the "pool" but we enjoyed the jacuzzi tub. Could have used some directions on where to find things. The property was clean, layout as represented, but have no idea where the club house is. Yes, I would recommend the property. We drove to Newport for the aquarium--that was the best. We mostly cooked in, because of kids. We liked the Pirate for coffee and cookies, and the kids' store Silly where we bought rain coats. We didn't know where the whale cove was so we missed that. The drive from Portland airport was a killer. (Portland airport is even worse than JFK. We didn't realize there would be no place to stop to go potty or get something to eat, so all we had that night was airplane pretzels. We arrived at the Lighthouse at 9:30 P.M. and just prayed we were in the right place. There's an elevator which helped with all our luggage. Next morning we drove back to Lincoln not relizing we could have eaten at the SeaHag--which is good. There was absolutely nothing to eat our first morning--we had to buy everything and didn't know about Thrifty, so we went North instead of South. We want to go back same time next year and see what we missed this time and will go south always. We had GPS guidance; it's mandatory that you have a car--we leased at the aiport, which was difficult with our stuff, even worse when we went back to Dollar rent-a-car. No one would help us get our stuff back to the airport, nor thru the 3 lines you have to endure to check in, weight bags and check them. Then security. Granted, air travel is difficult these days, but Delta could be more helpful.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, sight seeing, romantic getaway
