The bright master bedroom features a queen size bed dressed in quality linens.  The snugly paneled second bedroom has two twin beds.  Clean, comfortable and affordable, this oceanfront cottage offers you a unique and special retreat.  Large sliding deck doors in the livingroom area provide a panoramic view of the seasonally changing dunes and ocean.  You'll enjoy ocean breezes from the new, custom-built deck (deck chairs provided) and delight in spectacular sunsets.  The spacious grounds surrounding the cottage provide considerable privacy.  The unspoiled grassy dunes, with their private beach path, shelter a variety of local flora and fauna, including an occasional bald eagle.  The fire pit in our spacious yard offers an opportunity on starry nights for enjoying s'mores and swapping stories around a bed a glowing embers. - bring your own marshmallows and chocolate.  The sound of the ocean surf will lull you to sleep at night.

The Western Downs now has internet access to keep you 'connected' and offers extensive and varied collections of movies, music, games and books.  A well stocked kitchen answers most cooking needs.  This is a charcoal grill for outside use.  Paper products, hand and dish soaps provided.  A porta-crib and baby monitor are available upon request.   The Western Downs is licensed and 'fire and life safety' approved by Pacific County. 

Visitors  of all ages can enjoy the endless variety of activities offered on the Long Beach Peninsula with its 28 miles of sandy beach.  Located just one mile north of Long Beach, The Western Downs is a short drive from groceries, a variety of shops and artists' studios, various parks both state and national (such as Leadbetter Point and Lewis and Clark National Historical Park), Go-cart tracks, an amusement arcade and rides, two golf courses, historic lighthouses and villages, the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge on pristine Willapa Bay and the culinary delights of restaurants that range from down-home local to world-class.
