traveler reviews for this bigfork house rental

Best of Both Worlds!

Review submitted: July 7, 2014   Date of arrival: July 3, 2014

I'm almost hesitant to write this review because I don't want everyone to find out about this little gem. We could not have asked for a more perfect setting/location. This quaint cabin is nestled onto a serene, tree-shaded hillside just steps away from the Swan River and Nature Trail. We had deer wandering through the yard in the mornings while we were enjoying our coffee in the lawn chairs, and we fell asleep to the sound of the river every night. The cabin itself is older, but has an interesting history and is clean and nicely furnished. The living room is situated so that someone on the pull-out couch can sleep without other people having to come through the room to access the kitchen/bathroom, etc.
The very best part about this rental is that even though you FEEL like you're miles away in this peaceful, private setting, it's just a quick two block walk down the hill to Bigfork Village. We didn't have to use the car for two days.
Byron and Dana are very pleasant owners and easy to deal with. We enjoyed reading about the history of the cabin and water tower, and the free "library" at the base of the driveway is a cute and fun idea. My son made use of the tennis equipment that was provided (free courts just down the street). We loved everything about this place and were truly sad to leave. I hope to be back with my husband later this year. I'm sure it's just as beautiful in any season.

Perfect Location and Quant Little Cabin!

Review submitted: July 30, 2011   Date of arrival: July 27, 2011

The pictures do not do justice to the quantness of this sweet little cabin. For us the best thing about this cabin was how close it was to the wonderful town of Bigfork - a nice stroll just a few blocks away leads you to great stores and restaurants. Second best thing for us was that every morning we stepped outside our cabin, walked down the driveway and walked the Swan Lake Nature Trail (an old road) which was beautiful! We met lots of nice people on the trail. We loved the cabin. It had everything we needed - a god mix between a rustic cabin with some modern amenities. We were happy to walk into a sunroom/laundry room which had a washer, dryer and iron. Past here was a good size kitchen and I felt the owner had pretty much thought of everything as we had glasses, coffee maker, milk in the fridge, microwave and a bottle opener for our wine. ;-) Living room was also quite nice and cozy with a good size couch and a surprisingly nice/big TV if you wanted (my husband would be quite content!). The couch has a pullout bed. Bathroom was modern and beautiful, more than what we expected. Laslty, at the back is a cute bedroom. Entire place has adjustable heat which was nice. At night we happily sat out on the lawn chairs. We hope to definitely return to The Trail House and to Bigfork! A wonderful cabin, setting and the location you can't beat!
