Perfect for family

Review submitted: April 8, 2013   Date of arrival: January 1, 2012

Our family of 2 adults and 2 teenage children enjoyed renting Debs apartment as it was big enough for people to be in different areas without tripping over each other. The apartment is very good in size with large bedrooms, small but adequate bathroom,a good size lounge room and comfortable with LCD tv and cable plus lovely large books to enjoy looking through. The kitchen is fully equipped although small in size but that seems to be standard for overseas.
We were able to use the internet at no cost which was great to touch base with family back home. The apartment is in a great location a very nice neighbourhood close to walk to Madison, Lexington and Park Ave and easy walk to most areas.Should you not be keen on walking there is a subway E 71 and Lexington less than 1minute away.Together as a family and also separately we would often catch the subway or a bus to see different areas as we invested in a weekly transport ticket and we felt very safe. The apartment is very clean and if anything it is easy to keep clean.Rob, Deborah's husband was on hand if we needed anything attended to and was very helpful answering any questions we had.We would shop locally at what Deb suggests in her info as they are very close and also a bottle shop is near. We also liked Wholefoods and Dean and De Lucca 's the food we ended up buying would be lovely prepared food that we would reheat,so a big kitchen wasn't needed especially as we were one holidays.I have no hesitation in recommending Deborah's and Rob's New York for people wanting the New York experience living like a local instead of a hotel room where it is just a room, with this you get a loved home.

Hi Deborah,

Got here at about 9.30pm last night which was very late for us UK
time. The apartment is fantastic and very spacious. Think we have
worked out how to use evrything but if we have a problem I will contact
you. Just heading out to EJ's. Looking forward to it.

Best regards,

Sandra

Live like a local - perfect NYC apartment!

You always hope the place you rent exceeds your expectations, this apartment did. Deb and Rob were extremely accommodating and pleasant to work with beginning upon my initial contact with Deb and making the reservation, and then with Rob providing us with very helpful “visitor notes”. They allowed us to keep our suitcases in the apartment on our check out day and saved us the hassle of trying to find someplace to hold the bags for the day, which we found out is nearly impossible to do NYC.

Both bedrooms have firm yet comfortable mattresses with very nice linens on both beds. The front bedroom faces the busy street below and can be noisy, but there is a white noise machine to block out the street noise which my sister found very effective. The apartment has a well-stocked galley style kitchen, which was large enough to accommodate all 3 of us while cooking breakfast every morning. The dining room was a wonderful place to enjoy our morning coffee, eat breakfast and use our laptops via the owner’s secured Wi-Fi network each morning. If you don’t want to bring your laptop, the owners generously allow guests to use their personal computer and printer, which came in handy for printing our plane boarding passes.

The subway is 1 minute walk from the front door of the apartment and Central Park is just a 10 minute walk. D’Agostino down the street a couple of blocks is a less expensive alternative to Butterfield Market across the street. Citarella is another reasonably priced market. We enjoyed Dos Toros Taqueria which is downstairs and next to the apartment’s entry door. It similar to Chipotle, but we think it’s better than Chipotle. Lenox Hill Grill which is also very close has friendly, fast service, but the food was nothing special. If you want a traditional NYC steakhouse dinner try Arlington Club. Excellent food and it's not just steaks (tasty popovers, white truffle risotto, perfect filet); friendly staff; attractive atmosphere.

Staying in this apartment felt like we were locals rather than tourists. We would definitely stay in this apartment again and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to have a more authentic NYC experience.
