Hilltop estate with views 240 degrees in Westlake Village

Hilltop, gated 6500 sq. ft. retreat, atop avacado orchards, with views of mountains in two directions and the Channel Islands in the other.  Located one hour from Santa Moncia / LA, 45 minutes to Santa Barbara and 30 minutes from Ventura.  The house is an east coast type, with big wrap around porch.  Many spots ideal for curling up with a book inside or outside.  We are not in Westlake Village, but 20-25 minutes away.  There was no closer listing for exactly where we are, which is between Ventura and LA.  Camarillo/Somis is the actual area.  The temperature is generally ten degrees cooler than Westlake and LA due to sea breezes and location with summer days generally 75-80 and cooling to 55 at night. 

Three acres with full wrap around porch, large pool with cover, kiddie pool and 8 person jacuzzi.  The pool is kept refreshing but not always warm (outside of July - September) through a solar heater and using the cover when not in use.  Heating with gas is too expensive with the cool nights. Featuring fruit trees, a rose garden, two fountains, a gas firepit, gourmet kitchen, hardwood floors, and a warm family friendly decor.  Open layout, french doors opening onto decks throughout the house.  A large yard for play and strolling, or look out from the porch watching sunrise or sunset expansive views from the lower porch or upper balconies.

The master bedroom and bath is striking with balcony views, vaulted ceiling, his and her walk in shower, etc. (king beautyrest) Full laundry room and kids' wing with four bedrooms (2 queen, 1 king and 2(twin), a separate (queen) guest suite off of the garage, wireless internet, cable, large plasma screen in den, 4 fireplaces.  This is a NO SMOKING house.

If you are a city dwelling family and just want a taste of solitude, views and lots of room to enjoy your family, guests and convenient to LA, Santa Barbara or points in between you will love this place.  Need activities? Whale watching, kayaking and other ocean activities are 30 minutes away, Six Flags is 45 minutes and Disneyland and Hollywood are around an hour away for easy day trips.  LA is close, as is Santa Barbara, wine country where Sideways was filmed is under an hour away, as is Ojai.   Day trips with an amazing retreat to return to is a great way to enjoy. You are also 30-45 minutes away from several state parks for hiking and biking or beach activities.

This is our primary home.  We have a blended family so sometimes 3-4 nights per week that it is just the two adults and we can sometimes creatively schedule to make that work for a rental for a long weekend, etc.  We would likely be just using it as a reason for a small getaway of our own if schedules matched.  In the summer, week long or longer rentals may be available.
