Vilano Beach/Burnie,s Bungalow

We had a great time! About 5 minute drive from St. Augustine. Beach right there. The house was clean and comfortable. Owner answered all our questions. Easy to work with. Couldn't have asked for a better week off. Pure relaxation, no worries. I was all smiles!

Great House

I actually lived in this house for three years. It is an amazing space and I miss it every day. Nestled between the Atlantic and the Intracoastal, the neighborhood is made up mostly of year-round residents and feels very safe and homey. Dog and child consciousness is the standard for most drivers in the area. It is close enough to town that you can easily go and far enough away that you can totally forget that it exists.

The house itself is super! one bedroom/bath upstairs and one bedroom/bath downstairs. The upstairs has mini porches that are perfect for reading, checking the surf, or watching the sunset (they are also well suited for afternoon naps!). The kitchen and living room are open, well appointed, and very functional. The house has lots of windows and light. It feels almost like being in a really nice tree house. The L-shaped porch is a multi-purpose space. A good spot for breakfast, a spot to sit in the sun, and a great place to spend the afternoon in the shade.

There is easy access to the beach and the local folks are nice. The beach was over '100 wide at low tide over my most recent stay. The surf is good at mid-tide and 10 people is a crowd. Lots of dolphin out in the the mornings and they are as happy to see you as you are to see them. In the winter it is not uncommon to see right whales off of the beach.

Close to the house (short to medium walk or a very short drive) are three excellent restaurants. The Reef has an outstanding Sunday brunch and a great happy hour. Aunt Kate's is on the river and has good low country food. Caps' on the Water has a great everything. If you go to the outside bar, seating is first come, first served and the full menu is available.

Go stay at this house! You will be glad you did!!

Excellent value, space and location!!

This house is amazing! The house has all the amenities of home and was very clean. It has enough space to sleep 6+ if needed. Our family of 6 didn't feel cramped or crowded - much better than a hotel or townhouse! The property owner even provided enough snacks and food to tide us over for the first day or so while we settled in. He also provided a kayak and other beach items for our use. The house is in a small and quiet neighborhood a couple miles from "civilization". It was perfect for us as it was our intent to "get away from it all". Yet it is close enough to St. Augustine and all its activities and attractions.

The house is right across A1A and just a short walk to the beach. And the beach itself is nice and wide and wasn't busy the whole time we were there. Right down the road is a boat ramp - and there is plenty of room on the property if you decide to bring a boat along for your vacation.

If you are looking for a superb value for your money, you can't go wrong with this property!!

Recommended for: families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you next year..
