Get away from it all and enjoy a bird's eye view of charming Franklin, NC from this cozy two-building retreat at 4,000-foot elevation.
Top of the Mountain can be your homebase as you explore Western North Carolina, or stock up on groceries and never leave this area known as Riley's Knob. A relief map inside will show you just where you are.
Start your days wtih a hot beverage on the wide decks connecting the main cabin and the guest quarters.
Delight in visits by dozens of humming birds to our feeders. Explore the surrounding woodland and encounter wild turkeys, grouse, piliated woodpeckers, rabbits and other native creatures homesteading in acres of rhododendron.
At day's end, cook out on the gas grill -- big enough for a crowd -- as you watch spectacular sunsets over the Smoky Mountains and Appalachian Trail.
The main cabinincludes bedroom with king-size bed, bathroom with tub/shower combination, kitchen with breakfast bar, dining area, and sitting area with local-stone fireplace, sleeper sofa for two, and television with basic cable and DVD player.
Guest quarters has sleeping area with one queensize bed and connecting bath, plus sitting area with day bed, and private deck.
Top of the Mountain is perfect for two couples traveling together, a family with teenies and teens, or grandparents introducing city kids to the mountains.

Bedrooms include cozy quilts, extra pillows and blankets, chests of drawers and closets.
Kitchenincludes breakfast bar, electric stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, drip coffer maker (in both buildings), toaster, crock pot, condiments, dishes and utensils for 8. Sorry no dishwasher, so it's back to basics. Delicious, cold water comes from community well.
Dining table sits up to 8.
Baths:main house--shower/tub combo, hair dryer;
Guest house--stall shower.
Utility room includes washer and dryer, first aid kit, toolbox, vacuum, ironing board/iron.
Decks:umbrella table with four folding chairs, benches, large wooden chairs for view gazing, and planters with kitchen herbs. Gas grill ready to cook.
All linens provided.
Sorry, no internet or land line. Fontana Regional Library offers internet.
Owner is a Kripalu yoga teacher who will provide "Yoga on the Deck" for additional fee.
