vacation rental description

Enjoy a relaxing holiday in our big organic farm in Northern Le Marche, in sight of the UNESCO Heritage site of Urbino.

We run an organic farm near Urbino and a country inn with B&B rooms.

The apartment, La Casina dei Cavalli, stands near the main building and the stables, it's a newly built, wooden house with a sitting/dining room, separate kitchen, double bedroom with comfortable queensize bed and large storage area and a complete bathroom with tub/shower (with screen) and washing machine, the windows have mosquito nets.

The kitchen is complete with fridge and freezer, small oven (a real oven, just smaller), dishwasher, italian and percolator coffee pot, toaster, kettle and all the utensils, crockery and tableware that you need to prepare and enjoy your meals at the Casina. You'll also find a welcome basket with some items from the farm storeroom for you not to miss our wine, jams, juices, bread and fresh organic free-range eggs.

Step outside and you'll find yourself in your own private bit of garden with wooden deck with chairs, table and umbrella for you to enjoy your meals al fresco or sunbath, surrounded by huge laurel bushes and excellent Concord grapes that you're welcome to pick when ripe. At the other side of the laurels you'll find the swimming pool that you share with the other guests of our Agriturismo.

A free wifi connection is available for you to use and, should you need it, you can borrow a mobile phone (you can use it for receiving calls only or recharge the sim card and make calls).

In the Casina you will find some information on the area, maps, a list with our favourite restaurants inthe area, best grocery shops and market days. In the main building there's a wider choice of maps, information and books that you're also very welcome to use.

We will be at your disposal to suggest itineraries, restaurants and to share with you our tiny secrets about this beautiful and little known area.

The Casina is a no smoking apartment (you're welcome to smoke outside, but please be careful during summer!)

Sorry no pets.

activities and attractions in Urbino Le Marche

Perfect for touring Central italy (Gubbio, Arezzo, San Sepolcro, Città di Castello and San Marino are easy daytrips from the farm), exploring the beautiful off-the-beaten-track hilltop towns of Le Marche (such as San Leo, Mondavio, Piobbico and many more), walking or horse riding along the hills and the beautiful countryside (where ancient oaks are still protected as in the times of the Dukes of Montefeltro) or simply relax by the pool, enjoying the sweeping view of the landscape.

The Casina is the perfect starting point for walks and treks: it stands just a few miles away from beautiful Riserva Naturale Gola del Furlo (Furlo Gorge) with its peculiar flora and fauna (including wolves and some pairs of golden eagles), and from Parco del Sasso Simone and Simoncello with its distinctive geological formations. The beaches and rocky coastlines of Parco del Monte San Bartolo and Conero represent an interesting option compared to the typical Adriatic sandy beaches.
The Grotte di Frasassi (Frasassi Caves), among the biggest in Europe, include a chamber which is large enough to hold Milan cathedral.
In Sansepolcro you can visit the Aboca Museum: a unique collection of books and historical artifacts providing a historical survey of the utilization of herbs through the centuries.
At the Locanda you will find maps of walks and treks.
We have stables available for those who bring their own horses. In addition, our own horses are at our guests' disposal for lessons and walks in the countryside.
After a busy day of visits and walks relax by the pool, enjoying the sweeping view of the landscape and, if you wish, the company of our pets.

Ceramics and Pottery: Near the Locanda you can find three towns that belong to the Associazione Italiana Città della Ceramica: Urbania, Pesaro and Gubbio. In the three of them you can admire ancient ceramics or buy works reproducing old shapes and decorations or pieces of modern design produced with traditional techniques. In Urbania you may attend summer courses on ceramics.
Production of pottery for home use has been common practice in Fratte Rosa for centuries: wheel-made pieces with a characteristic aubergine-violet enamel. Nowadays three workshops still produce the traditional shapes along with new creations and new colours.
In Urbania you can visit Collezione Maurri Poggi: a gorgeous expo of home-use-pottery containing about 800 pieces from all over Italy and specially from Le Marche, Tuscany and Umbria, the biggest and more important in central Italy.
Paper: In Fermignano stands the building that used to be the paper mill of the Ducato di Urbino; the tradition of paper-making remains in Fabriano (one hour away from the Locanda) where you may visit the Museo della Carta e della Filigrana.
Stone: The carving of sandstone from local quarries has been performed in Sant’Ippolito since the XIV century. The stone-dressers from Sant’Ippolito worked in Italy and abroad, for instance decorating the Popes’ Palace in Avignon. The art of the stone-dressers from Sant’Ippolito is still alive in our days.

Due to its variegated territory ad climate Le Marche offers a wide variety of farm and sea products, organic agriculture is widely practiced throughout the region and traditional productions are being re-discovered and used for a diversified gastronomy deeply rooted into traditions but also interestingly innovative. During the months of September and October Urbino hosts “Voglie d’Autunno”: various events dedicated to local produce and preserving the biodiversity. The DOC wines of Le Marche are increasingly popular and their quality has reached outstanding levels. Some good wineries in the area offer wine tasting and we can help you arrange truffle hunts and amazing wine and food tours.

During the summer months several cultural events are held in the Province like Festival di Musica Antica in Urbino in July and ROF (Rossini Opera Festival) in Pesaro in August.
