Oak Ridge Cottage on the Best Fishing Lake in the Northwoods in Phelps

The cottage is located on beautiful Lac Vieux Desert lake in the heart of Wisconsin's northwoods lake country and the Nicolet National Forest. We are just a few miles north of Eagle River, WI. We are open all year round and offer you a knotty-pine interior cottage that will suit all your lodging and accommodation needs, all surrounded by beautiful and fragrant old pine trees and majestic oaks. There is an abundance of wildlife here, on the lake and in the area. Make sure you bring a pair of binoculars with you - there are a lot of eagle nests all around the lake and you can see and hear eagles and loons every day. You will also see ducks, swans, geese and otters here. Deer very often visit the area.

We are located on the south shore of Lac Vieux Desert, the headwaters of the Wisconsin River. Our beautiful lake is famous of its record musky (a World Record Musky was caught here), walleye, northern pike, perch, small mouth and large mouth bass and panfish fishing, and is one of the largest in the state with 4300 acres and 19 miles of fantastic shoreline and 4 islands. The cottage (located 70 yards from the lake's shore) has 250’ lake frontage and you can use a pier.

You will be very happy with our spacious, modern, super clean, housekeeping 2 bedroom cottage which can accommodate up to 6 guests on 1 double bed, 2 twin beds and a pull-out sofa(queen size). It is completely furnished including bed linens and kitchen towels. A big kitchen has a full size refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and all necessary pots, pans, plates and utensils. There is also a DVD player and a TV set in the cottage (there is no TV reception at our location). You can bring your pet (nominal fee) for a vacation here.

For your enjoyment, outside the cottage you will find charcoal grill, fire pit (for weekly rentals we provide a couple of armfuls of firewood for free), and picnic table with chairs. The cottage has a very private, big deck from which guests can enjoy a great view of the lake. Guests can use a private storage located next to piers for their fishing gear. Right at the lake's shore, for our guests' convenience, there is a special, big tank with fresh, oxygenated water for holding live bait. A 14 foot boat is also included to fish the lake or just to relax on the water. After a successful fishing day you can use our fish-cleaning house to clean your fish and then freeze them (if you want) in a freezer there.

Come stay with us any time of the year and enjoy many wonderful vacation activities in spring and summer such as swimming, fishing, boating, canoeing, hiking, berry picking, scenic driving and wildlife watching. There is plenty to do in fall and winter, too. You can enjoy watching the northern forests burst into brilliant fall colors as well as hunting, ice fishing, snowmobiling or cross country skiing. The cottage is located on the snowmobile trail and you have access to 600 miles of Vilas County snowmobiling trails in the Nicolet National Forest.
