vacation rental description
Experience beautiful, unspoiled South Ponte Vedra Beach from our oceanfront house, Seashell. Nestled just beyond the orange-pink sands and natural dunes, Seashell combines old-time charm and modern convenience to create the ideal beach vacation venue. If you were lucky enough to vacation at the beach as a child, Seashell may remind you of the family bungalow: comfortable, homey, and perched in the middle of paradise at the water's edge, with great views from all the big windows! If you're a nature lover, Seashell will become your go-to vacation home, surrounded by native vegetation and offering a breathtaking view of sea and shore birds. Polish the binoculars and grab the camera: you're going to be adding some new species! (The marine life's no slouch either; watch for fins in the early morning and late afternoon, when our local pod of dolphins swims by!) Your favorite place at Seashell just may be the huge lanai facing the sea. This is where most meals get eaten, shell collections are displayed, and reminisces last late into the night. You'll notice that everyone in your group has a special use for the lanai, from the early riser who toasts the sunrise with a steaming cup of coffee, to the imaginative child who turns one corner into a ship and fends off pirates, to the reader who lingers long into twilight with a good mystery novel in one hand and a frosty drink in the other. When you can persuade yourself to come indoors from the lanai, your fortitude is rewarded with central air conditioning, HDTV, and all the modern conveniences that make life easier. Luckily, the good architectural "bones" of Seashell are intact, showing why this mid-20th-century house remains in great shape after so many decades. The ceilings and doorframes are all handsome hardwood, with crossbeams and slopes in many rooms. The windows are wide and beautiful. And the feeling is pure laid-back contentment. Our living room has plenty of space for your whole group to flop down and relax after a busy day in the surf or sightseeing. A comfy bamboo sofa and chairs invite you to sink right in . . . and stay! And the daybed is perfect for the ankle-biters: get them into pajamas, settle them all down to read a bedtime story, and poof! Asleep in a heap in 10 minutes! (Of course, you'll probably fall asleep too, but that's okay! The daybed is very comfortable.) Just off the living room is our kitchen, a very compact room that nonetheless manages to offer a stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, assorted cookware, dishes, utensils, and even a little table and chair. Do a grocery run on the way to Seashell and you're all set! You can even set up the laptop on the table (you have free wireless Internet here) or turn it into a drinks area. The kitchen is always slighted in favor of the outdoor grill (or the fine local restaurants!), but just in case you feel the urge to get creative, it's fully stocked with all the equipment you need. There are 3 bedrooms at Seashell, so everyone has privacy and a great place to stretch out for a good night's sleep. The first bedroom offers a double bed, small TV, and million-dollar ocean views from 2 windows. The second has 2 twin beds, as well as our washer and dryer (help yourself!). And the third has a full-sized bed with a nice garden view, access to the half-bath, and an outside door. (This one's a great choice for that early riser!) The full bathroom at Seashell has both a shower and tub option, as well as a frosted window in the door and aquamarine-colored tiles that will remind you of Grandma's house! There's also an outdoor shower just past the half-bath, so dripping swimmers have a place to leave the sand and shells before they re-enter the house. And we provide all the linens, pillows, blankets, and towels you need for every bed and bath at Seashell, plus extras. Pack light this trip; we've tried to think of just about everything you could need! When it's time for a family vacation that reconnects you with the beauty of the coast, choose Seashell.
