activities and attractions in Charleston South Carolina

Charleston is an amazing city with so much to do.  She boasts gorgeous parks, plantations and beaches, amazing history, and incredible dining.

The Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island is a quick drive across the connector, and the house is also very convenient to historic Downtown.  The neighborhood is across the street from Boone Hall Plantation.  Other great plantations/ parks are Magnolia Gardens and Middleton.  There is also a water park and county park within 5 minutes of the house.  The Yorktown is about 10-12 minutes away, and there is a ferry there to downtown in case you would rather do that than drive.

There are so many great dining options.  Here are some of my favorites:

Downtown: Magnolia's, High Cotton, Peninsula, Wasabi, Cru Cafe, Chai's and Rue de Jean

Mount Pleasant: Basil, Red Drum, Bambu, Vickery's (on Shem Creek), Five Loaves, and Village Post House

Isle of Palms: Sea Biscuit (great breakfast) and Morgan Creek Grill

Sullivan's Island: Atlanticville and Poe's (great burgers and tacos)

I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about Charleston.

Disappointing

None (Dallas, TX)
Review submitted: September 20, 2012   Date of arrival: September 14, 2012

This house was very disappointing and not worth what we paid. We have stayed in many homes. This was one needs help.
1. No toilet paper or paper towels.
2. No curtains up in the bathrooms.
3. Dishwasher not working properly (she already knew this…note found in the trash can from the last folks who stayed there).
4. Not enough towels…we had to wash daily.
5. Dryer needs a heating element (dryer would run all night long…she already knew this too). She left wet cushions hanging up when we arrived.
6. No extra blankets and pillows in the bedrooms.
7. Middle bedroom mattress is terrible to sleep on and no reading lamp on night stand.
8. Light bulbs missing from every fixture in the place.
9. Light in master bedroom shower not working.
This house could be really nice.

Owners response: I am unsure how to respond to this review other than to say that the people that syaed immediately after them emailed me stating that they loved the place and would be back and that I personally have my grandmother and family staying there next week for my sisters wedding. To touch on a few items, the note regarding the dishwasher was for a different property in which I had already replaced it, but it had not been secured to the countertop properly. It was a note left by my repair man with an invoice for the already corrected issue. The cushion covers for the couch had been laundered and cannot be dried. There are four pillows on each bed and comforters on each. I have no idea what she is referencing. I have had several friends and family stay in the bed in the middle room and never mention an issue with comfort. The dryer has been looked at, the few light bulbs not working have been replaced, and a sufficient amount of toilet paper is present. They had plenty of towels. I hope you will find the other reviews helpful in reviewing this property.

You Will Not Be Disappointed!

Piper (Plattsburgh, NY, USA)
Review submitted: March 21, 2012   Date of arrival: March 8, 2012

This lovely house is located in Mt. Pleasant SC in a quiet secluded neighborhood, ~10 miles NE of downtown Charleston. Light traffic & a large fenced in back yard make it an ideal spot for families with small children. Every type of store & restaurant that one can imagine is within a 5 mile radius. Approx 1 mile north on RT 17 is a campground featuring mini-putt, go carts, an arcade, etc. If you're not into sightseeing, this location is ideal for just relaxing, taking strolls along the winding streets in the beautifully landscaped neighborhood. Getting to & from "CHI" is a short 30 minute drive...there's a "back road" from this location that connects to the interstate, right to the airport.

We found the house to be spotless with all the amenities we could have asked for. Wireless internet, a very large wall mounted flat screen TV, spacious bedrooms(with plenty of outlets), a beautiful large dining room, and in the kitchen, a nice glass table with chairs ideal for a doing a puzzle. The price was right, much more reasonable than what a family would pay in a hotel, plus, you can relax in "A WHOLE HOUSE". The owner also made it very easy for us to access the key & depart when we left.

Overall, 10/10 stars in every category I can think of...we had a great time! Would I go back to this exact spot?...DEFINITELY. Oh, if you ask, the owner may let you take home a souvenir pine cone from the yard...they're huge.

Wish we could have stayed longer!!!

Restaurants we liked..."Tommy Condons", "T Bonz", "Jack's Cosmic Hot Dogs".

Some(of the many)nearby stores...WalMart Super Center, Target, Piggly Wiggly Supermarket(You gotta "...dig the pig...").

Beautiful home

travelingfamily (Tega Cay SC)
Review submitted: October 4, 2011   Date of arrival: September 30, 2011

Our family stayed at this home last weekend. It is a beautiful home, much larger than the pictures show. The home looks like a model home, everything from the bedding to the southern decor with a huge fenced in backyard. The furniture, stunning wood floors, and everything including the dishes were top-notch and exceptional. We have rented many vacation homes in the past in many states, however this is by far the nicest, most well kept property we have ever stayed in. The drive was short to get to the historic district of Charleston and we had a wonderful time. My only regret is we couldnt stay longer! The owner of this home was available, very nice and accomodating.
Thank you again
The Beatty Family
