Conveniently located, about 30 minutes from the airport, it is directly across the street from one of Maui's most beautiful beaches, Kamaole #2. Kam 2, as it is known among the locals, is perfect for swimming, snorkeling or just relaxing in the sun and working on your tan. For the more adventuresome, you can easily walk for miles along the almost continuous beachfronts of south Maui. The complex has one of the best fresh water swimming pools on this side of the island, complete with deck chairs, umbrellas and lounges. There is a fresh water shower poolside for your convenience. Several gas barbeques are located around the grounds, one just at the corner of our building, should you want to try your hand at barbequing the fish you caught on your sport fishing trip earlier that day. Vacation Rental AmenitiesWhy should you choose our condo? We like to consider this our "Home away from Home", and have tried to furnish and maintain it as such. When you first walk in the front door, we want you to feel like you belong there, so take off your shoes, get into some comfortable clothes and start to enjoy!! Our condo is completely furnished and redecorated, air-conditioned and equipped with high-speed internet connection. It is located away from the noise of the street and the parking area, yet it is within easy walking distance to several restaurants and shops. The living room is equipped with a color TV, VCR/DVD player and CD player along with a comfortable queen sized sofa sleeper, occasional chairs and tables. The dining area will accommodate four adults for dinner, when you decide to eat after a hard day of sunning yourself on the beach. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric range, oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, ice-maker, dishwasher, slow cooker and blender. Dishes and silverware are supplied in a quantity sufficient that it is not necessary to do dishes after each meal, even if you have guests over. When it comes time to sleep, there is a roomy queen sized bed in the bedroom and a queen sized sofa sleeper in the living room. A full sized closet in the bedroom is there so it is not necessary to live out of your suitcase. All of the necessary linens are supplied for both beds as well as the bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom has a vanity sink, mirrored cabinet and a full sized tub and tiled shower. At the end of the day, nothing could be better than relaxing in the privacy of our spacious lanai with a cold drink while reliving some of the days' experiences. Our lanai is on the back side of the complex, away from the noise of the street and parking area, and is furnished with a table and chairs for your comfort. Beach towels are also supplied for either the beach, or the swimming pool which is just a dozen or so steps from your front door. Folding beach chairs and beach mats are also supplied for your enjoyment. The laundry facilities and Gas Barbeques are also located just a few steps from your unit. This unit is designated as a non-smoking unit, and no pets are allowed on the premises. Activities and AttractionsWhat do You come to Maui to do? Whatever it is, this is the place to do it. Water sports are endless. We have swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, wind-surfing, sailing, jet-skiing and just plain laying on the beach and soaking up some "rays". Is golf your game? There are 15 golf courses on the island, 7 within about a 20 minute drive from your condo. How about bicycling down from the top of Mt. Haleakala (10,023 ft. elevation)? There are several companies offering these exciting tours. However, if you visit Haleakala, remember to take along a wrap for it is very cold at the top, even in the middle of summer. Do aquariums turn you on? The Aquarium at the Maui Ocean Center in Maalaea, about 25 minutes from your front door, is one of the worlds finest. You can easily spend an entire day there, observing the native marine life in their natural habitat, taking a leisurely lunch break in their fabulous onsite restaurant. The Pacific Whale Foundation is located there as well as several interesting shops and restaurants. And speaking of restaurants, if there is something that Maui has more of than sunshine, it is fabulous restaurants. There are several within very easy walking distance of your condo, with many more about a ten minute drive south at Wailea, or north at Azeka Place. There are too many wonderful restaurants to make recommendations, but don't expect to lose any weight on this vacation. Sport Fishing? Also at Maalaea harbor, you can find numerous 1/2 day and 1 day fishing trips that will fulfill all of your fishing dreams. In the winter months, November through March, there is no better place than Maui to go for whale watching. The Pacific Whale Foundation, and others, operate several whale watching boat trips each day during this season. If you are on Maui during this period, do not miss the opportunity to go on one of these fantastic trips. The ships crew will put hydrophones into the water so that you can actually hear the whales "talking" to each other. We have spent many winter evenings just sitting on Kam 2, across from our condo, watching the whales breaching through our binoculars as they travel across the horizon. How about a wine-tasting trip? Maui has its own local winery, Tedeschi's, on the slopes of Haleakala, in the little town of Ulupalakua. The drive is all on a paved road to the winery where you may take a tour of the vineyards, sample their several varieties of wine and browse in their gift shop. While upcountry you may like to visit the quaint paniolo (cowboy) town of Makawao. It also has many shops & restaurants, as does the town of Paia on the Hana Highway. Want to get above it all? How about parasailing in the waters off Lahaina, between Maui and the "pineapple island" of Lanai? Or taking a helicopter ride over the top of Mt. Haleakala and the rugged east Maui mountains. Every visitor to Maui must make the drive to Hana at least once. Hana is the home of the once famous Hasegawa General Store. This store, made famous in an old song, burned down several years ago, but has recently been rebuilt. However, the main attraction on this trip is the drive to Hana. This trip should be started in the morning because of the winding road, one lane bridges and frequent stops to view the lush scenery and many waterfalls along the way. We like to stop at the Keanae peninsula, about halfway to Hana, to watch the waves breaking on the old lava flow that is prevalent in this area. Although Hana is approximately 60 miles from Kahalui, it is pretty much an all day trip and it would be a good idea to bring a picnic lunch. Maui even has stables if horseback riding is your thing. And don't forget one of the things that Hawaii is famous for --- the native Hawaiian luau. Food, mai-tais, music and hula dancing all go together with soft breezes and swaying palm trees to make this evening unforgettable. If you really feel daring, try the poi at least once! There is something for everyone, whether you want to keep on the go every minute or just kick back and relax and enjoy the sun and beautiful scenery that abounds on this tropical paradise. A perfect way to end your day might be to sit on the beach and watch the inspiring sunset along with the views of the islands of Lanai, Kahoolawe and the Molokini crater.
