Freindliest Condo on the island

We rented this unit for a month in September and did not know what to expect. We have been renting condos on the island for many years now. This is the first time we rented one on the bay side. Jibber was great and made our stay one of the nicest we have ever had. The condo had everything we wanted in it and had a great atmosphere. We hope to come back next year.

Recommended for: age 55+, people with disabilities, pet-friendly, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

I was searching for an affordable, quiet, unpretentious spot to enjoy my time on South Padre Island when my own condo had already been rented out, and that's what I got at Jibber's Hideaway. If you are looking for an upscale rental unit with brand new modern amenities, you won't find it here--BUT! if you are looking for a nifty, funky, quiet spot with a comfy living room, seperate bedroom, wifi access, a claw foot tub perfect for soaking, full kitchen, friendly hosts, and incredible garden (complete with hammock) right out your door, and groceries, the bay, good restaurants, and the beach within easy walking distance...this is a really good deal. Plus your host Jibber is the foremost authority on the island when it comes to windsurfing. He also provides bicycle and kayak rentals. I have had a lovely visit, and I will recommend this spot to my friends.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, pet-friendly, tourists without a car

Old Fisherman Hut

You get what you pay for... We woke up Christmas morning to NO ELECTRICITY and 55 degrees! Took almost 2 hours to get things back up because the electric breaker panel is located in another unit! No apology, no offer partial refund for the inconvenience. Very small unit with odd layout - bathroom is opposite end from bedroom. Says has WiFi, but only in the middle of the night. Only one electric outlet in whole unit capable of taking laptop's 3-prong plug. Also, the cable was fuzzy and static the whole time. Finally, there is no privacy in this unit; too many windows with inadequate covering. It's adequate lodging if you have dogs, but not very comfortable.

Recommended for: pet-friendly

Owners response: The Hideaway is nestled in a Tropical setting and cold weather plays nasty tricks on the electrical system. We appologize for any inconviences mother
nature plays on us. The Hideaway has all the amenities and appliances you may need. The kitchen, blender, toaster, cheese grater, wine opener, coffee pot,
microwave, electric stove/oven,refrig., pans, bowls,dishes and silver ware.
The bathroom has beach and bath towels, hair dryer. If you need something I
live next door. We think you will have a restful stay in the Hideaway, and not with and outrageous price.
