Casa Playa Bonita in Chicxulub

Casa Playa Bonita is a two-story beachfront house sitting at the doorstep of the Gulf of Mexico. Its advantageous location near the ports of Chicxulub and Progreso allow any visitor to enjoy the full experience of living in Yucatan. The house is easily accessible from Mérida International Airport (MID), which is an hour’s drive away. Alternatively, Cancún International Airport (CUN) is a 4-hour drive away.

Having been renovated in 2010, Casa Palma offers comfort and amenities similar to city living, while purposefully preserving a laid-back lifestyle. It is ideal for short and long visits alike thanks to its privileged location, nearness to the ocean and the proximity of all necessary services and tourist attractions. The new pool offers an alternative to bathing in the ocean.

The house is situated on the beachfront, in a quiet neighborhood with spectacular views of the ocean and surrounded by natural landmarks. Breathtaking sunsets and sunrises dominate the skyline which can be observed from the bedroom windows, balcony or beachfront terrace. Undoubtedly, this location provides a calm and quiet ambience.

The house is fully furnished. Three bedrooms with double-sized beds can sleep three couples in total. Two hammocks are provided, which can be optionally hung in the bedrooms and balcony. Each bedroom has (air-conditioning with extra feed), ceiling fans and fully-equipped restrooms and showers. An extra restroom is located at the ground floor.

The spacious kitchen includes a refrigerator/freezer, gas stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker and blender. Household cutlery is ready to use for up to eight people.  A double sink adds to the ease of using the kitchen area in addition to a four-person breakfast table.

The decorated dining room sits twelve guests and the comfortable living room provides plenty of space for leisurely enjoying your stay.

The external façade offers a breezy roofed terrace on the ground floor and a large balcony above with a seaside view. The terrace has been equipped with a built-in bar, a gaming table sitting four people and beach sofas. Up on the balcony, the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets can be enjoyed while lying on a bed-couch futon or in the hammocks provided. This vantage view may also be enjoyed from the two upstairs bedrooms.

The sea is in front of the house. Bathing in the sea is completely safe. By the pool, beach loungers and umbrellas can be used for sunbathing in addition to a picnic table sitting six, ideal for entertaining during open-air evening dinners and barbecues.

Casa Playa Bonita is situated in Chicxulub, a quaint fisherman’s town. The sea is appropriate for snorkeling with several coral reefs surround the area. A wide array of food products and general supplies are found in the small shops and a marketplace. Small restaurants serve excellent local seafood which is often freshly caught. Fishermen can take you for a fishing trip or boat ride upon request. The La Ceiba golf course is 30 minutes away, where you may obtain day and weekly passes.

The port of Progreso is 5 miles away. This is the most important city in the area, with seafood restaurants, supermarkets, souvenir shops, markets and local sights. Walking along the seaside boulevard is a must, while enjoying freshly cut coconuts and traditional sweets. Several bars are scattered across town. Kayaks and motorized vehicles are available for rent.

Mérida, the colonial capital of Yucatan, is 25 miles away. A large city, Mérida offers many attractions and services. These include car rentals, shopping malls, fine restaurants, important historical sites and friendly people. Nightlife and entertainment can be found across town, especially in the center and North part of town. Many highly specialized hospitals can be found, which are renowned for their services country-wide. High-street shopping is available in malls and downtown.

Numerous archeological sites are nearby. The closest one is Dzibichaltún, a half-hour drive away. Chichén-Itzá and Uxmal are less than three hours away. One may also visit the sinkholes (cenotes) and caves which are easily accessible by road.
