vacation rental description
Live in the most remote development in all of southern Florida. Only a small number of condo units in this residential community are available for seasonal rental. Surrounded by 2.4 million aces of wilderness protected by five separate state and federal lands, Port of the Islands is truly a unique location in all of southern Florida. Kayak into endless miles of mangrove and freshwater swamps, take your (or a rental) boat out to a deserted barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico where you will be alone on miles of sandy beaches. Bicycle into the Fakahatchee Strand of the Big Cypress Swamp each morning and see rare birds, reptiles, deer and panther tracks. Breakfast on the front porch overlooking the marina in the morning sun and dine on the lanai overlooking a pond and a national wildlife preserve where flocks of ibis and herons pass nightly across dramatic sunsets. Nature abounds in every direction. Even the marina is a manatee preserve where boats are restricted to idle speed, ensuring peace and quiet with fishermen who enjoy some of the best fishing in all of Florida. It’s almost like camping out, but with the luxury and convenience of modern accommodations.
