Perfect Mountain Escape

Jon and Sue (Phoenix, AZ)
Review submitted: March 30, 2013   Date of arrival: September 5, 2012

My wife and I spent 5 days in the property in the early fall and loved it.
It's close enough to Flagstaff that it is no trouble getting into town, but far enough away from everything it still feels secluded. It is in a community of other cabins, but it is at the edge of the community which makes it feel more secluded then some of the other cabins in the area.
The house itself is beautiful. The master bedroom is upstairs on it's own, and the master bathroom has a great tube and two person shower. The hot tub is great at night to sit out and enjoy the stars, and the outdoor fire pit was used just about every night. The kitchen is huge, we had several friends come and meet us the last couple nights and we cooked at home; the cabin had everything we needed and more than enough space to hold everyone comfortably.
Flagstaff is so close, and there are many great places to eat, and a lot of activities to enjoy, all within about 10-15 minutes of the cabin. I would highly recommend this rental and look forward to future trips!

Bad Neigborhood/NOT in the Woods

If you want a nice, secluded home this is not it. It's in the middle of a not very nice neighborhood with NO PRIVACY. THey have squeezed homes in very close together. You are totally on top of the neighbors. The owner was unbelievable. Tried to keep our deposit for breaking the vacuum (never touched) and staining the bedspread (in a room we didn't even use). Obviously doesn't wash the linens after every stay. If you replaced the vacuum and bedspread which we didn't damage it still does not equal our deposit. We negotiated a much lower rate per night that was then changed to a higher rate late the night before we were set to leave. He also added in a cleaning fee that he originally said he would waive. Since we were leaving in a matter of hours we had no choice but to pay him or cancel the trip our kids had been looking forward to. He knew that we were a military family on a budget and still tried to nickel and dime us. One of his reasons for taking our deposit is that the microwave wasn't clean, the other two reasons he cited were that we broke his vacuum (never touched it) and his crock pot lid (again, didn't use). The last day we asked if we could extend our stay for one more night as previously discussed and he said not at the discounted rate we previously agreed on and we had 20 minutes to get out. We read previous reviews and the owner seemed easy to work with but something must have recently changed to make him desperate. Then to top it all off when we asked for clairification as to why he was keeping our deposit he said that it would be considered harassment if we contacted him further regarding this matter. Avoid this cabin at all costs, the headache of dealing with the owner is not worth it.

Owners response: Sorry we had to retain your deposit. 1st time in 171 rentals. In response to the email you sent prior to your deposit being retained we would like to say you are welcome, and we are glad you enjoyed your stay.

A perfect getaway

I thought it will be nice to celebrate my wife birthday away from home and have a nice relaxing weekend. So, we came across this beautiful Cabin in flagstaff. The pictures were nice and I really liked the reviews, and the rates were reasonable. Most of the time, pictures and description could be deceiving, when you reserve a place online but I decided to trust the reviews. I reserved it for friday through Sunday and called a couple of friends and family to join us for the weekend, without the kids.
We got there Friday around noon with a couple of boxes of cookware and supplies, since my wife loves to cook. There it was, a beautiful house in the middle of the woods. It wasn't a hotel, a little cabin, or a cottage. It was like you were invited to somebody's house, it has a "home" with all the amenities. A fully stocked kitchen (we didn't have to bring anything with us) and everything else you need, I mean everything. And it was super clean which we valued a lot. The weather was great, in the 50s during the day which was great for hiking and enjoying the hot tub or just sitting on the deck and relaxing in the quiet outdoors, which overlooked the woods. At night it dipped in the 30s and 20s. With a glass of wine in front of the fireplace we spend most our evening relaxing and enjoying our time away from our daily life's and kids although it's a very kid-friendly place. After two restfull nights in the kingsize master bedroom we deceided to stay one more day and called Dominic. Fortunately, we were able to stay one more day.
We did not want to come home! We did enjoy it to the fullest extend. We definitely will go back as soon as possible. It was one the best mini vacation ever! I highly recommend this place. It exceeded any expections we had, and the owner is super nice too.
It's truly a perfect getaway.

Joey
