vacation rental description
Great for Families. This cheerful cottage overlooks a gorgeous 4 acre pond full of bass and bream. There is a wonderful screened back deck where you can sit for hours just feeling the breeze, listening to the birds and watching the pond life. Depending on the time of year, there are hummingbirds, geese, frogs (they can be deafening), turtles, butterflies, red-wing blackbirds, eagles, herons, woodpeckers, groundhogs, and always there are fish. We provide the gear; you provide the skill to catch them.
The house itself could not be more pleasant. It wins rave reviews from all our guests. It is on a farm, but no one describes it as "rustic". The kitchen is fully equipped, and the furnishings were professionally selected by our interior designer. It is quite charming, but still pet-friendly. However, the best feature, which you will comprehend only when you see it, is the POND.

activities and attractions in Charlottesville Virginia
The Pond House is in the center of a 584 acre horse and cattle farm 30 minutes from Charlottesville. At the farm, guests hike the miles of woodland trails, enjoy the ponds, watch wildlife, horses and cattle, and generally explore all the acreage.
Off the farm, we are 30 minutes from Monticello, 15 minutes from Montpelier (Madison's restored home), 15 minutes from Barboursville Winery, Horton Cellars and Keswick Vineyard, and 4 miles from Gordonsville, with its excellent restaurants and shops.
Horseback riding is offered 1/2 mile away at Oakland Heights farm. Rafting and tubing are available an hour away. Lots of great antique and other specialty shopping in Charlottesville, Culpeper, Orange and the small towns.
Excellent, excellent scenic drives along Route 231 through Keswick and Somerset. Absolutely eye-popping views of gorgeous farms like ours.
Civil war museums and battlefields, including Wilderness.
The restaurants in the area are outstanding.
But the activity you will enjoy the most is lounging on the back deck, staring at the Pond.
