vacation rental description
Enjoy life on a 600 acre horse and cattle farm, with views of the Southwest Mountain range, miles of hiking, gorgeous scenery, and a wonderfully decorated antebellum home. We are a mile off a four lane highway, but a world away from city life.
Great for families of all ages. We have a "Bunk Room" for the children, and three spacious bedrooms for the adults. The farm offers miles of spectacular hiking, and has 9 ponds, two of which are full of bass and bream.
We are a 30 minute drive from Charlottesville and Monticello, and it is one of the most charming drives in all of America, through Cismont and Keswick hunt country. Gordonsville, four miles away, has become a half-sized Middleburg, with outstanding restaurants and trendy shoppes. Within 15 minutes of the farm you will find Barboursville Winery, Horton Cellars and Keswick Vineyard, three of the best wineries in the state.
Two presidential homes are close by: Jefferson's Monticello, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Madison's Montpelier, recently restored to Madison era authenticity. The County is also home to Wilderness Battlefield, the Exchange Hotel Civil War Museum, and the James Madison Museum. For the more active, horseback riding is available on a neighboring farm, tubing and rafting can be done on the James or Rappahanock rivers nearby, you can go hot air ballooning, or even sky dive from the local airport.
And you have all these opportunities in one of the most beautiful areas in the Eastern U.S.A. There is a reason Charlottesville is consistently rated one of the top places to live or retire. This area is spectacular.

Wolf Trap Farm
house rental amenities
It is a farm, but that does not mean "rustic". This is a Manor House, with all the modern conveniences, including central heat and air, two fully equipped kitchens, two working fireplaces, whirlpool tub in the largest bedroom, dishwasher, clothes washers and dryers, a formal dining room, televisions (but NOT cable - You don't come here to watch TV).
Outside, we have porches offering sunset views over the mountains, a spacious patio with hot tub, horseshoe pits, a rope swing, views of horse paddocks, cow pastures and ponds, and the ever-changing glory of nature. The countryside both at the farm and in the area is just stunning. The hills are high enough to afford vistas, but not so high as to tire the legs or obstruct transportation.
activities and attractions in Charlottesville Virginia
The top attractions are Monticello, Montpelier, the high quality local wineries and restaurants, the lesser Civil War sites, and the City of Charlottesville.
The top activities are hanging out with your family or friends at the farm itself, taking walks on the farm, fishing in our ponds, horseback riding with our neighbors at Oakland Heights, enjoying the wineries and restaurants, shopping in Gordonsville, Orange, Charlottesville and Culpeper, and taking slow, scenic drives through the beautiful countryside.
