traveler reviews for this galveston house rental

Great little place and will rent again!!

Review submitted: August 9, 2013   Date of arrival: July 31, 2013

My family came down from MN and we rented this cottage for 2 nights so I could take the grandkids to see the ocean. So we had 3 adults and 4 kids and the place could not have worked any better! I slept on the couch which was VERY comfortable - lol. There is a bedrooom with pocket doors downstairs and 2 beds in the upstairs to sleep 4. Tony and Ron were very amenable to our needs and they have furnished this house so you don't have to bring hardly anything with you except your clothes and swimsuits. There are beach toys for the kids and chairs available to use. There is a shower outside the house which we made the guys use. The backyard is very small but we didn't spend a lot of time there anyway. It was perfect for our needs and we were even able to get into the home earlier than normal. We loved it... again, thank you Ron for everything!

Historical Cottage offers it all!

Review submitted: July 31, 2013   Date of arrival: July 28, 2013

Darling historical cottage! Ron and Tony have thought of it all--their home-away-from-home oozes historical charm while offering modern-day conveniences & comfort. We arrived early for our stay, and the owners allowed us to check in early {so nice}. The house really does have everything you need for a beach vacation--coffee, coffee maker, grill with charcoal, beach towels, extra pillows/sheets/quilts, laundry detergent and more! The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals--and is fully updated with stainless steel appliances & granite countertops. Upstairs offers the kids/teens a great retreat with flatscreen & video game console. The first floor also features a flatscreen with DVD player and easily 100+ movies for family fun. I'm the great-granddaughter of a 1900 Great Storm survivor, and Tony & Ron have truly stocked this darling sea-cottage with wonderful books/memorbilia on The Great Hurricane. As a designer/architect husband/wife we really enjoyed all the great art, light fixtures & antique rugs. The cozy beds feature gazillions of pillows, quilts & feather-bed toppers. A plus--the cottage is just around the corner from a stellar deli, Shykats. Just up 14th is another fantastic restaurant, Mosquito Cafe. Both were dog friendly & kid friendly. In summary--you've found your cottage for your beach vacation! If you want service, thoughful accommodations, clean quarters, and just oodles of charm, then book The Cottage on 14th before someone else does! FYI, it books fast--for good reason! Tony & Ron--thank you--we will contact you about Thanksgiving!

Greatly Exceeded Expectations

Review submitted: June 7, 2013   Date of arrival: May 29, 2013

Our family of 6 stayed in the cottage on 14th, for a week during summer vacation. The cottage is wonderful. They provided everything a family could possibly need for a comfortable stay, including bedding, pillows, and there was even charcoal for the grill. It was in comfortable walking distance to Seawall Blvd, and the ocean. I think it took me about 15 minutes to walk it myself and I am not particularly fit. We loved sitting on the back patio in a small but beautiful garden area. There was even an outdoor shower to get sand and salt off of us after adventures on the beach. The house is beautifully decorated for people of all tastes and ages. The kids loved having tons of movies for their use when relaxing after a long day. Our hosts were available, friendly, informative about island activities, and absolutely wonderful to us. I would recommend this vacation rental to anyone at anytime of year. It was so much better than staying at a motel, and the owners have kept in mind pricing on the home for people like our family who are on a limited income, to be able to still afford a wonderful vacation. I am disabled and would recommend this even to persons with disabilities outside of those who have trouble with balance or wheelchairs. There is a bedroom on the first floor, and access to everything that need might require. The only thing that makes it a disadvantage for people unable to walk or move about well is the stair entrances to the home. Thanks so much. It was the best family vacation we have had yet.
