ocean views relax and enjoy! in Key Largo

This is a quaint mobile unit in Manatee Cove on the Atlantic side of Key Largo. The home is located DIRECTLY on the water, and has it's own patio area with chairs, umbrella, charcoal grill, personal dock, fishing poles, etc. VERY cute and relaxing!

The water is a lot more merky than on the Gulf side of the Keys due to the weather hitting you head-on, but you can still see a bit. We still snorkeled some around the dock, but it had to be fairly calm in order to see much. If you want more snorkeling, etc. right at the rental, this is probably not the place for you. Even though, we still saw numerous types of damsels, a nurse shark, a gorgeous blue crab that lives right in the coral rocks next to the private dock, other smaller crabs, starfish, saltwater catfish, lots of lizards and iguanas, etc. There were also a group of dolphins that came really close to the dock a couple nights and sang to us!

While we were there it rained about 60% of the time, but July is their rainy season. Even so, we still had a blast! You are within a 15-30 minute drive of most of the main attractions in Key Largo/Islamorada: snorkel and fishing trips, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, theater of the Sea, shops, restaurants, etc.

With all of that being said, I felt like we were misled in the description of the unit.
It states that it is a 2-bedroom unit, so I was expecting my husband and I to have one bedroom, our 14-yr old daughter to have the other for some privacy, and our 8-yr old son to sleep on the futon so he could watch TV. But, in actuality, it is only a 1-bedroom with a flimsy partition to block off the futon in the living room; making THAT the second bedroom! So, our son had to sleep in the reclining chair.....which was not very comfortable, and NOT what we expected!

It is EXTREMELY small, but really cute. The little AC units worked well; one in the bedroom and another in the living room.

Since it rained a lot during our stay, we had to waste a quite a few towels that they provided because two windows in the little dining area, as well as one in the bedroom, leaked fairly heavily.

So, overall we had a decent stay, but were not too thrilled about the misleading "2-bedroom unit" as it is listed and the leaky windows. This would be a great little place for 2-3 people during the dry season, but anything over that is very crowded.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, sight seeing, romantic getaway
