house rental amenities

There is just so much right here in McLean, VA it's impossible to list it all!

The closest grocery store is within a block of the property.  There is a CVS, Total Beverage with loads of fine wines and beer, Drycleaners, Starbucks, and 26 restaurants within 6 blocks of the property.

Do you have someone that is handicapped that really needs a completely handicapped facility?   There is one just around the block -please call or email me for more details.

Parking in front is FREE and up to four cars will fit right in the driveway.

Just 10 minutes from the house is some of the best shopping in DC!  There is everything from Macy's to Versace.  Victoria's Secret, Theatre Style Movies, and my Favorite Restaurant - Coastal Flats are right here.  Try the Crabcakes at Coastal Flats - I can't find a better one!  J. Gilberts is great high end steak house located right down the street and has a very nice lunch menu, but sit in the bar section - the bartender is hysterical.  He really should have been a comedian.

There is a Fairfax County Olympic Sized Swimming Pool that is also open to non residents if you need to take a dip or work out - they have a great weight room for anyone that needs a serious workout.

I would encourage anyone to walk, jog or ride around the neighborhood right behind the house.  It's really pretty with well landscaped lawns and some really beautiful million dollar homes.

Keep your eyes open in McLean!  Former Vice President Cheney Lives here, I have seen Collin Powell at McDonalds (I got a little star struck!), Queen Noor lives in McLean along with the CEO of AOL....You never know who you will see at Starbucks getting coffee before they head off to work!

You can even have someone else park your car for you at the grocery store...Don't worry it's just McLean...People really are very nice...

Most Excellent

Review submitted: May 31, 2013   Date of arrival: May 1, 2013

Spent a wonderful few days in the DC area with family friends. The house is the perfect venue for sitting, chatting and unwinding after a great day in Dc--which was an easy drive in, after rush hour. We chose to drive due to the limited walking ability of some family members, but the drive to metro was only 10 minutes. Location, location, location, and you can't beat it here! 1.5 blocks to a very large food store, restaurants and gas--you can't beat it.

The house is perfect for sitting and chatting--many large sofa to relax on, even with a large group. Downstairs in the basement are more sofas, Tv's and a second kitchen--and don't let the name "basement" scare you! It is a very nice apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms with its own washer, dryer and fridge. Great place to park the kids or, in my case, my elderly mother and her best friend.

The upstairs has a huge dining table, as well as a second table, so everyone can eat breakfast together. Upstairs are three more bedrooms, as well as two more bathrooms, so getting the gang going in the morning was easy and there was no one waiting to shower. The beds are nice and comfy, and I never awoke with a sore back which is wonderful!

On the management end the property and clean with convenient parking out front. Patricia, who managed our arrangement, was very responsive with quick, clear, concise information and directions. In fact, it was her communications that prompted me to book the house when I did, rather than continuing to shop around! Check out was easy--take out the trash and throw a load of towels in the wash and out the door you go.

To conclude: easy to get to, easy commute to DC (15-20 minutes) or metro, great for a family get together vacation with lots of room, and very clean.

Just Like Home

Review submitted: March 25, 2013   Date of arrival: February 16, 2013

We opened the front door and breathed a sigh of relief, we felt like we were at home. It was an extremely comfortable house, it was very clean, the furniture was made up of large sofas that one could sink down into. The dining room table was large enough for a feast. The kitchen was well equipped, and during our stay we made cookies, a cake, a big pot of soup, and some pasta. The master bath was beautiful with it’s soaking tub and double vanity, the claw-foot tub in the other bath was wonderful. This house was perfect for our large family. The neighborhood was safe and so close to shopping and monuments. This house made a perfect home-base for us while we were visiting Washington DC.
Patricia answered all of our questions quickly, professionally, and warmly. She took away much of the stress we’ve experienced while traveling in the past.
Because we treated the house as though it were our own, our full deposit was returned promptly.

The House is a Gem!

Review submitted: December 31, 2012   Date of arrival: December 25, 2012

We really enjoyed our stay. It was a perfect place for out family of 10. You did a great job of decorating for the holidays.

We found the location very convenient. a few minutes walk to grocery stores and restaurants; a few minutes drive to the Zoo, the airport, Amtrak, and the Washington Mall.

The kitchen was better outfitted than I had expected. The pots, pans, and cookie sheets were high quality and made cooking easy. Having 2 silicon oven mitts were especially appreciated when getting out our roasts. For some reason my kids have a competitive attitude toward cooking. Having a rolling pin made allowed my daughter's squash gallette to win this year.

Frankly, the house is a gem. I live in an 1890's Queen Anne and appreciate how difficult upkeep can be. I applaud your creative reuse as a high volume rental.
