activities and attractions in Homewood Lake Tahoe Area
Homewood Mountain Resort is just one mile down the road for skiing and snowboarding. The paved bike/run/rollerblade trail extends along the lake all the way to Meeks Bay in the south, Tahoe City in the north, and further along the Truckee River to Squaw Valley. Blackwood Canyon is just a mile north, offering a 2.5-mile flat paved road for walking, running, cross-country skiing, and rollerblading; and continue on up the hill to one of the greatest Tahoe hikes, Ellis Peak. The short Eagle Rock trail takes you to panoramic Lake Tahoe vistas. Wildflowers, pines, and aspens abound here, making it equally beautiful in any season. Or you can relax at the beach and enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding!
Tahoe City is just five miles north, with all the activities it offers: floating/rafting the Truckee River, shopping, restaurants, bars, groceries, mountain biking, and fishing. And all that the Lake Tahoe area has to offer is within 25 miles: Crystal Bay casinos and shows, skiing at Squaw, Alpine, and Northstar, Kings Beach, the larger casinos and nightlife of South Lake Tahoe, and all the sports on the lake and in the mountains.
