Fully furnished, two bedroom one bath home. Direct access to lake via dock to lakeside.
Carports on two sides offer ample off street parking. Florida room,Central a/c (NEW SYSTEM installed 5/14) and heat. Washer and dryer located in the adjacent laundry shed for your exclusive use, no coins needed. All utilities including basic cable provided. Password enabled WiFi is usually available at no cost but it is not guaranteed.  Bring your cell phone or escape the outside world as no telephone service is provided. Sleeps four with privacy, two more with air mattress in living room.

A Stay At Tarpon Springs

Dear Reader,

So as to inform of a brief stay I had at this particular property: I write that I found the house in an area by water. This water was a freshwater lake, replete with jumping fish. The house featured 2 carports, a wash and dryer, a TV set, an area to cook, and proximity to Tarpon Springs (and thus, Palm Harbor and other areas). The house was sort of a set piece that had perhaps been moved in by vehicles. One note was that the dock area appeared a bit covered reeds, therefore, If one had thought to take a boat, it might have behooved to bring a kayak or some proper boat that could be brought ashore from use to use. Peace.

The location and layout of the home were OK but it is an older mobile home that has not been well maintained. We had some problems which were corrected after contacting the owner. The home is in much need of work, kitchen and bathroom need to be updated. The kitchen needs a GOOD cleaning too! Last but not least the rent was too HIGH.

Owners response: My rental is not a 5 star resort nor is it priced like one. If you are looking for granite counter-tops, towel warmers, bar service with complimentary drinks,etc this is not the place for you. It has an exceptional view and very convenient location. The kitchen is modern, the bathroom is large featuring a full bath tub not just a shower stall. Repairs/improvements in last two years: garbage disposal replaced, mini-split ac/heat added, vinyl storm windows on sun-porch vinyl replaced, window operating mechanisms on main house in process of being repaired 50% operable(5/14), hot water heater replaced 12/13, Central ac replaced with high efficiency heat pump 5/14. It is in my opinion under priced for what it has to offer. Please compare what it has to offer with what is available in the area. It is priced lower than what motels charge and offers a lot more.

A bit disappointing.

First the positives. The location is great, easy access to bike trails, supermarkets, restaurants, filling stations, etc. Several excellent golf courses are within 10 or 15 minutes of the property. Located on a small lake, the view is excellent with potential access to kayaking. Ample off street parking is available for 1 vehicle and a tow along.
The listing for this rental indicates it was recently renovated, however, deferred maintenance is a constant theme throughout this unit. The reasonable price of the rental somewhat compensates for the shortcomings, but the state of the unit falls short of the listing in several areas. At the time of our stay, the central air was not working and most of the windows would not open. This situation, coupled with the above average temperatures made the house overly warm, especially for sleeping. The front room “split” unit was highly ineffective and did not alleviate the problem. Access to the lake is compromised by vegetation and the next door neighbor who has encroached on the property by installing solar lights on the accessible portion of the beach. The ”deck” described in the listing is a dilapidated platform which is unsuitable (if not dangerous) for launching or landing watercraft. The listing indicates that free wi-fi access is intermittent. This is misleading. There is no wifi service in the unit, period.
Other disappointing deficiencies include: the carpet is filthy. Bare feet soon become black feet. Although the unit has been recently painted and the walls and cabinets appear neat and clean, the interiors of cabinets and corners are in need of cleaning. The refrigerator door does not seal causing the unit to run constantly and condensation is a problem, both internally and externally. Many of the window screens are in disrepair which coupled with the lack of central air provide small insects free access. We were plagued by aggressive ankle biters throughout our stay.
Some problems could be eliminated by providing an informational binder which includes who to call in case of emergency, information about the location of the breaker box, etc. We did have an electrical problem which was solved by a phone call to the owner, but written material would be helpful and reassuring.

Owners response: I was at the place for 10 days prior to the December renters The split system was working fine producing ac as well as heat. I did not have any problem connecting to the internet using WiFi. as I told the renters the best place to get a connection is from the sun room. I believe the WiFi originates from the HOA building which is diagonally across the street. It does not originate from my house but it has always been accessible during the 3 years I have owned the property. Direct access to the lake from my property is limited to a small dock, suitable to launch a canoe or Kayak.
Larger water craft can be put into the lake using the private community boat launch and dock located 1/4 mile away at the end of Paradise Blvd. My property is the only property along the west side of the lake that has a natural lakeside (no sea wall). I keep the naturally occurring trees, brush and vegetation trimmed so as to not interfere with viewing the lake from the house. Some people swim in this lake but I would not advise this as the lake is a fresh water lake even though it is called Salt Lake, it has snakes turtles and the occasional alligator you would expect in a semi tropical location. I did not find any issue with the carpeting in November but I am having it cleaned as well as pest treatment during the turn over at the end of January.. The condensation issue with the the refrigerator has been 90% reduced now that the exterior condensation switch has been turned back on.
The central ac is scheduled to be replaced this coming April and I will be accepting reservations for the summer months only after its replacement. At this time many of the windows have their operating handles removed due to the fact they have problems being closed after they are opened. The working windows all have intact screens.
