St. James City Waterfront Home with direct Gulf Access in Pine Island

Awesome house - great location!

We wanted to come to Pine Island with our family to get away from the hustle and bustle of south Florida over Christmas. Shannon's house was more perfect than we could have imagined. It was immaculate when we arrived, with everything you could possibly need for a week's vacation: there were bikes in the garage, fishing poles in the family room, bait in the freezer, gas in the grill's propane tank.

The house was perfectly sized for the five of us, but would have still been comfortable with another couple staying. The pool and hot-tub were wonderful - the perfect way to unwind with a glass of wine after a hard day fishing off the dock or riding bikes around the island.

A ten minute walk from the house and you'll find a couple of nice, local bars/seafood restaurants and a general store. There's a supermarket and drug store about 3 miles away, near the center of the island. There are several nice seafood restaurants throughout the island.

If you're looking for a base-camp to explore Sanibel (the far more popular--and over-priced--island to the West of Pine Island), this probably isn't the place to rent. Getting to Sanibel can take over an hour driving... although, if you have a boat and are taking advantage of Shannon's dock, it would be much easier.

Overall, I would whole-heartedly recommend Shannon's place for anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable, stress-free vacation. We have so many wonderful memories of our time there and can't wait to go back!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway
