This Lake House is located at the beginning of Cedar Creek. The cove is large enough to ski right in front of the cabin. The large adjoining cove is a great place to kayak or canoe. You can paddle for hours up cedar creek. The grandchildren love fishing off the dock. You may use the fishing rods, just don't lose them. The house is right on the water. There are decks to sit and relax. There are two swings and a hammock on the boat dock.

Thorough enjoyment!

My family spent July 4th week at the Douglas Lake house and we had a ball. When they say this house is right on the lake...they mean it...you can fish from the back porch! Our sons and their friends enjoyed the kayaks and canoe when we weren't out boat riding and tubing. We have lasting memories and took some great pictures, some I even added to the Douglas Lake House face book page.
We had no problem with bugs in the house, the house was clean, the yard was well maintained and yes there is definitely a steep hill from the road to the house but it was not beyond anyone's capability to walk up or down. The pictures of the house are accurate and the owners were very helpful in answering questions.
We enjoyed it so much we are trying to rent the house again for the first of next month!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing, romantic getaway

So Sad!!

Roaches, dead and alive..had to clean the place before using it. And believe the renter when they say bring a 4-wheel drive if you plan to use the drive. The grounds were also unkept. We sent a couple on their anniversary to this house. I am so ashamed and very dissapointed. The renter said they were sorry and they would talk with the cleaning crew. Also that they have an exterminator. I am not sure why the roaches. She was very kind but now we are out the money and I feel responsible for ruining someone's anniversary. I will research more heavily,, the next vacation planned. Be sure you do also. This may have been a very nice place to go but if it is, they were having some REAL problems on this particular week-end.

Owners response: The person who wrote this has never been to the property. How can you possibly review a place you have never seen.

We have Allgood as pest control service and we have yard service. We have had Allgood out there extra though in response to this renter's said issue.

We have been going to this cabin for 25 years, and have never had people say anything negative, other than the fish are not biting.

This is the first complaint we have had in over 30 renters. We had renters stay for an entire week after this couple left and they said they had a wonderful time. They loved the kayaking and tubing and skiing.

And as for having 4 wheel drive on your vehicle. Yes, I explain to every renter that since our home is 10 feet from the water that means it is down a hill. The hill is small but the vehicle does need to be equipped with 4 wheel drive in order to park at the bottom. Most people including my own family parks at the top of the driveway and walks down. If you have trouble with stairs, or small hills, do not rent this one. If you want to fish, Kayak , Canoe, and have a good time, this is a good place to spend a few days.

This was the perfect place for me, my son and grandsons to relax. We went kayaking (my 9 year old grandson was a pro), canoeing and went out on the paddle boat. We fished, hung out on the 2 swings and just enjoyed being together. I love this place!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car
