vacation rental description
Magnolia Springs is the colorful southern riverfront hamlet described in novels laced with streets canopied with great live oaks, trails to the river tunneled by bamboo and vines of wisteria. The Magnolia River is renown for it's cold hole springs that make it a destination for summer frolicking, boating and year around beauty. It is a paddler's dream for exploring beautiful architecture of grand old homes that hug the banks, the last remaining river village of mail delivery by boat. It is the river that successfully fought to protect and preserve waters from the BP oil spill. Everyone becomes a photographer, no place better for coastal bird spotting, capturing beautiful images of the south's roads less traveled. The community is proud to have achieved the honor of being declared a historic treasure of the south. We are privileged to own and offer our cottages for the pleasure of travelers seeking a special time spent near the shores of the gulf of mexico from Pensacola to New Orleans. There are more day trips than days in the week. There are sandy beaches for hundreds of miles yet as close as 12 miles/ 15 minutes traveling along beautiful countryside roads. The peaceful country stretches are bordered by reputed cotton fields, pecan groves as far as the eye can see, horse ranches, small crop farming, land rich and fertile. Fresh seafood can be bought off the boat just a few miles down on bayou Bon Secour. Nearby, cultural and recreational spots of interest are Fairhope, Foley, Mobile, Pensacola; all steeped in history. The bayous, marshes, water's edge are integral to daily life in all of our communities as far as New Orleans less than a 3 hour drive. Yellow cottage is located just 1/2 block to one of the area's most popular spots for dining and libation, Jesse's. It opens at 7 am for patio breakfast, noon for a light fare, afternoon for tavern and happy hour, nighttime for gourmet dining in a formal dining room. They also deliver pizza/beer to the river front pier for boaters. There is a deli on location for daily needs, a fine choice of wines, microbrew beers, flavors of organic coffee by the scoop. Breads, pastries, muffins are baked daily. A variety of meats butchered and ready for the grill, as well as smoked, baked pork, beef, chicken are prepared each day with a selection of side dishes, casseroles, and salads for take home dining. Jesse is definitely the place to meet and greet, the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker. Yellow cottage built in 1925 has been beautifully restored and offers all the amenities of home and more. It is owned and operated by artists who have chosen special real estate in a few states and embrace being hosts to a most unusual trip through time and space. There are always and ever changing pieces of art being curated around and throughout the cottages. It is eclectic in style, more comfortable than home, a place you long to return every chance given. There are tubes, kayak for riverfront fun. The property has a BBQ, a grand ole picnic table with umbrella for outdoor food fest, morning, noon, or night. So much to say, I could write a novel. Oh, Fanny Flagg did, The Redbird Christmas. Not to mention Forrest Gump, written in the next town just down the road a few miles. They don't call it "Alabama the Beautiful" for no good reason, and i am not just whistling Dixie. Come on down.
